A Walk in the Park

My Best Man and my father...

What the Skies have been Telling

I'm not sure if it's really so,
if it is my old age,
or if it is the slow down of life
due to pandemia--
but I DO know
the skies
(morning and evening)
have been "telling"!
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There are no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Psalm 19:3

Now THAT'S Better!

 Finished and reset.
And while my husband was applying the protective finish,
I asked him to add it to this puppy
which had set outside and lost its original painting.
I simply sprayed it and added two black spots to the eye sockets.
I'll find a place for him outside.
He already HAS a place in my heart!

It Found Us

A friend moving into an assisted living arrangement
called the other day asking if we'd be interested in buying her
riding lawn mower.
Would we!?!
 Today was its maiden voyage!
After my husband made the trial run,
he acquainted my 93 year old father with its intricacies...
 and then he was off!
Our yard has never looked prettier!
It's definitely in its element in the springtime.

I'm very happy we have this new (used) lawnmower
to make the job faster and easier for my husband.
We knew we needed one, but kind of dreaded the search.
It found us.

Silence

 silence
can be golden
or guilting
silence
can defend
or defeat
silence
can be private
or public
it's all in the hearing

I continue the discipline of writing ten line compositions
almost every day since the beginning of Lent..
At first it was just a way to create during the Lenten season.
Now it has become an almost necessary form
of personal expression.
My inspiration often comes the night before via a scene, experience,
something read, or something heard.
The fire pictured above happened on Mother's Day morning.
The air was conducive to silent fireside contemplation.
The cattle grazing were seen on one of our drives through our rural countryside.
Silence for me is almost always golden...

Nothing Wasted

We trimmed this bush yesterday afternoon...
Let NOTHING be wasted!
He said to his disciples,
"...Let nothing be wasted."
John 6:12

Strage and Beautiful

I found this rusted piece of iron while walking some time ago.
It is small.  Maybe three inches across...
It brings me pleasure every time I pass it
where I've placed it.
While out on a drive the other afternoon,
I asked the driver (my husband)
to stop the car so I could take a photo of the colt above.
Such a wondrous sight!
And this.
So much time to read.
To contemplate.
***
It's a strange and beautiful time period in my life.
This robin is building a nest.
Every time I open the door,
it flies to the branches of this nearby tree...
reminding me of MY "branch"...

There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of comfort sweet,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where we our Savior meet,
Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of full release,
Neart to the heart of God;
A place where all is joy and peace
Near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God;
Hold us, who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.
(Cleland B. McAfee)

Ending Well

The sun making a
valient attempt to
shine at its setting...
May I do so as well.

November Skies

 These are the GRAY ones!
In addition to some brilliant morning sunrises,
these gray skies have caught my attention over the past days.
The variety of God's skies is what catches my eye--
captures my heart.

Hunter Moon

The window to my world
is a small one,
but large enough to frame the
Hunter Moon this October
Sunday morning.

Absolutely and Especially

 We made time to
walk a local trail yesterday.
I posted photos on my Facebook page.
"Still you find beauty with foliage and plants
readying for their Winter naps!" 🍁🍂
a friend commented.
"Absolutely!" I responded.

Looking back on my reply to my friend later,
I wished I'd responded with a DIFFERENT word...
ESPECIALLY!
Yes!
ESPECIALLY I find beauty with foliage
and plants readying for their Winter naps!
Don't you?!?
