Anticipation

The past couple of days have been highlighted by noon lunches

with friends and a view of the beautiful harvest/hunter moon last night.

The weather has been rainy and cool today.

A trip to the library an hour or so agao netted me these two books.

After supper (crockpot sausage, cabbage and potatoes)

and after game hour with my husband and father

(dominoes and a card game we call "Baptist Rook"),

I plan to open Karon's latest and dive in.

Since it's an "express" loaner, it must be finished in a week.

The other is one I'd placed a hold on after reading someone's review about another book

(unavailable in our library system) by the same author.

It's been awhile since I'ver read good fiction.

I'm looking forward to it!

Friday was our Saturday

Husband and I spent an hour or so this morning hiking a new trail.

It was cloudy, damp and cool....

and there were treasures to be seen.

Some time after a great lunch (chicken salad on a wonderfully soft & toasted croissant roll,

potato soup and slaw),
we headed to our nearest library branch

where I picked up two books that should keep me

happily engaged this evening

accompanied by a cup of hot chocolate.

Friday was our Saturday this week!

A Morning of Leisure

Scenes from a beautiful Friday morning

spent on the streets and shops

of the quaint town of Grand Rapids, OH.

Leisurely we strolled sidewalks and and the graveled river walk path.

Pleasant shop owners

and visual pleasures greeted us at every turn.

Since his retirement, my husband work a few hours each week at a local

hardware store. We enjoy the extra hours we now have to spend together.

Grand Rapids was HIS idea --

and definitely a fine one!

The only cost involved was for gas to travel

and the price of lunch. A most DELICIOUS lunch!

We chose a seat at the window so that we could engage in a bit of "people watching"!

A perfect way to spend a part of an early autumn day...

Lake Days

It doesn't get much better than spending a couple of days at the lake

with good friends,

good food,

leisurely walks,

unscheduled time,

silence except for cicada songs,

thoughtful conversations, board games, sleeping on the sunporch
and watching a storm blow in and cross the water.

THE BLOGGER'S PRAYER Lord, help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me, dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
