If I'd Had a Clue...

If I'd had a CLUE about how much joy and fascination
 I'd find in custom-making activities
to "fit" individuals challenged with memory issues....
I would have pursued professional training and employment in the field.
I wonder what ELSE I'm clueless about that
I would/could/should pursue.......
  (What would/could/should YOU pursue?
Have you ever discovered something like this about yourself?)

...Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless,
but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),
Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity]...
Ephesians 5:15-16, Amplified Bible

  2. How rewarding that is to help people with memory problems. I like all those Christmas tree pins on the red stocking.

  4. It's probably not too late for you to pursue your passion for helping! I loved this post! I have recently discovered that I'm pretty sure I should have been a shepherdess. I love sheep and long to own them. The only thing standing in my way is money for fencing! Imagine that--50+acres and no fence! Also my job as a library clerk who specialized in local history was tailor made for me by God. I never realized such a job existed all the years I was at home without part time employment. I look back and see over my lifetime in this area how I was being prepared for this! I have learned in recent years that God works with the passions of our hearts to help us succeed at things in the church and in the world. Pursue those things which give you great joy as you serve--they are probably God designs!

    1. Great encouragement, Lori. Thank you. I WILL continue on an informal basis. Just think an education in this field would be SO important as our population ages......

  5. My heart is so touched seeing these photos... Love that verse in the amplified bible!-- like buying up each opportunity! When a persons buying something up... they really want it!!! During our last ice storm... people came outta the woodwork to walmart and bought up all the bread off the shelves! What if we bought up every opportunity like that. WOW!

  6. I'm often heard to tell my children... just say yes. You have no idea what you may learn about yourself or about others by just saying yes to an activity that you were over-thinking. This is a lesson that took me my whole life to learn and I'm eager to give my kiddos a head start. Beautiful post and photos Rebecca. And even without training it's obvious that the Lord is using you.

    Blessings, Debbie

  7. Never too late to get started, Rebecca. I'm finding some new things to fill my time, most recently working with furniture some and spending more time in the kitchen. I also love photography and am wondering if there might be a class I could take to sharpen my skills. I love all the ways that God moves us into new discoveries about ourselves/giftedness. Blessings to you as you walk through these days of Advent!
