You don't have to go to our bookshelves
to find books (or dust)!
When I saw this quote and the picture that accompanied it on facebook,
I couldn't keep from copying it.
Can you tell?
I'm one of those people
I'm one of those people
who feel better at the mere SIGHT of a book!
Oh Rebecca, your post today is SO me! Something about a book or bookstore...all those possibilities!!! Maybe it is leftover from childhood when I never could afford to have as many Scholastic books ordered as other kids...or maybe not...but something in me jumps for books.
ReplyDeleteAre you still under snow...most of our melted in yesterday's rain...to have some 50 days and then another storm at the end of week...rollicking December weather!
:)
DeleteWe're still being "buried"! The snow has just been falling steadily ALL day with no signs of stopping. Wow! Your weather really IS "rollicking"!
Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI so agree, I love love love books............they are just so wonderful............

My little cottage is packed with books, although I am culling out computer books because my dear husband was the geek. All of those books are 'Greek' to me. We have all kinds of books and I can't see not having them. It's great to be able to pick out something to read whenever you feel like it.

Books make me smile too; when I visit a new friend I like to see their bookshelves and what is in them. I think books we collect are somewhat autobiographical, like the gardens we plant.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good observation, Terra! I agree. When my husband and I go on housewalks (as we did just a week or so ago), I inevitably steal a glance at any book shelves or piles :)
DeleteI too love the sight and feel of a good book. It was a sad day when the Kindle was invented.
ReplyDeleteI haven't the faintest curiosity about the Kindle myself :)
DeleteI love books and we also have a house full. I like the feel of a solid book in my hands. I do enjoy reading the Bible on my iPad though. Nothing like snuggling up with the doggies and iPad under an afghan on the couch these cold winter evenings!
ReplyDeleteI join you in the love of books....they give comfort to me in so many ways....
ReplyDeleteReading the comments above, I consider myself in such lovely company :)
DeleteI did get a Kindle about a year ago, but it isn't as... tangible or a personable as holding an actual, physical book in your hand. Sometimes when reading a book, there is a family tree listed in the front of the book (East of Eden is a good example). While reading, I sometimes need to return to that family tree and peruse the graph and think through who is what to whom! The chronology of it all. With that being said, if I want to read in bed at night, the Kindle's light does not disturb the Hubs. But books... the smell, the look... the feel...
ReplyDeleteI admire all who can adapt to new technology :)
DeleteI don't read much in bed. Usually fall asleep before I turn a page! I can see the benefit of a Kindle is one DOES.....
