More About Jesus

Sometimes it's just impossible to improve on an old Gospel song.   This is one of them, I think.   This morning, the lines "Spirit of God, my teacher be, showing the things of Christ to me" were my heart's cry.

More about Jesus would I know,
More of His grace to others show;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love Who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn,
More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be,
Showing the things of Christ to me.

More about Jesus; in His Word,
Holding communion with my Lord;
Hearing His voice in every line,
Making each faithful saying mine.

More about Jesus; on His throne,
Riches in glory all His own;
More of His kingdom’s sure increase;
More of His coming, Prince of Peace.

Refrain
More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love Who died for me.

~ Eliza Edmonds Hewitt (1851-1920)~

  3. So far, two out of two blogs I have just read, have hymns posted....and I'm reading a book about hymn-writers and the stories behind the songs. ( I'm playing them on my flute if I don't know the tune. )
    The author of the book, Robert J. Morgan, said he was close to a breakdown, he took a walk and hymns kept coming to his mind....then he felt twinges of a *restored soul*. "What if I had not known those hymns?"

    1. It the risk of not being able to "reply" to the other comments, I HAVE to let you know how good it was to "see" you. I've missed you - and even went over to your blog to see if you've posted since the last time I visited. (You hadn't.)

      I don't think I knew that you played the flute! I sure wish I could play it! I especially love hearing it accompany a sweet song about Jesus!

  6. I have heard or even thought about that hymn in so long. Thanks for triggering my memories of singing that song out of the old red hymnal in the little church I grew up in. :)

  8. One of my favorite songs. ( I say that about a lot.) It's a good one to sing during my quiet time--it's my heart's desire.
