God in the Detail

According to Wikipedia, the idiom "the devil is in the details" comes from an earlier idiom--"GOD is in the detail." That second one was meant to communicate that whatever one does should be done thoroughly--details ARE important! The origins of the original saying are a little vague, and Bartlett's Familiar Quotations lists the author as anonymous.

What I AM sure of is that the details of my friend's Winter Wonderland (my "title" for it) display ARE amazing! She's been building her collection for 20 years. I got to see the 2011-2012 version yesterday. My pictures don't begin to do it justice, but you can click on them to enlarge....

The amazing thing to me is that most (if not all) of the buildings are plastic-canvas creations! I'm generally not a big fan of this particular craft, but this collection is a major exception to my perception.

My visit to this Winter Wonderland triggered my thinking about the detailed attention of the Heavenly Father--from the hairs of my head to the flowers of the field and birds of the air.

I'm also thinking about paying more attention

to a few details of my schedule and responsibilities.

God IS in the detail!

That is beautiful...Benjamin and I saw one this year and we too were amazed by the detail. Wow, that is also a good word for me...God spoke to me through this post this morning, He is in the details and I too should pay attention to the details.

This really is a good word for anyone desiring to follow God more closely. I love that He is in the details and I have always found such comfort in knowing He even knows the number of hairs on my head. Amazing! This winter wonderland is so beautiful and I also know someone who used to have quite a display in her home.

The thought that comes to mind as I consider this amazing collection is "Labor of love". You're right, it's just like His love labors where we're concerned.

Remarkable collection! Also your thoughts too!

We used to have a few little Winter scenes that we would put up when the kids were little (one I loved especially was a snow scene Ray did with Ivory flakes and mirrors for ice skating rinks displayed in an old fish tank). We got rid of them when the kids got older, 'wish we had them now for the grandkids.

Very encouraging to think of God in the details of our lives. And great reminder for us to be mindful of the details. Thanks!

I don't have any village scenes, winter scenes,...nada. So, I'm very impressed when I see one...and especially one of this size and beauty! Lovely!!!

She ought to sell tickets to view this display! Details, indeed. I think it incredibly fun to enjoy the giftings of my friends. I would surely enjoy seeing this one.
