No Tinsel to Tangle

  • What wonderful ideas came from my question, "What do YOU do with Christmas cards from prior years?"  You really ought to look at them in the comment section of THIS POST!  I'm glad it wasn't a contest.  I would have been hard-pressed to select a winner.
  • The phrase "Don't get your tinsel in a tangle"  has kept me chuckling the last week or so...
  • The  (artificial) Christmas trees in our kitchen/dining area are all buck naked this year!  Yes.  You heard that right!

It doesn't get much simpler than this.
There's simply no Tinsel to Tangle!

Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, "I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you," we can boldly quote,
   God is there, ready to help;
   I'm fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?
(Hebrews 13:5-6, The Message)

I'm challenged to keep the tinsel of my life at a minimum--
and not just at Christmas-time!

  1. Buck naked trees are great! :-D And you are right...simplicity is the way to go. I find that the older I get, the more I desire simplicity in every area of my life. (I requested a new pre-lit tree this year because I did not even want to think about the stress of stringing all those lights. Pitiful...but true.)

Thanks for the smile this morning!

  4. Hi Rebecca,
That is the approach we took with our tree this year too. Just put lots of lights on it and lots of snow. Looks great to us!

Thanks for coming by and don't you feel even the tiniest bit guilty cause maybe that is just not where the Lord has gifted you, and that is just fine.
Most people that love doing tablescapes, simply
love decorating and creating beauty. There are probably areas you are gifted in that we are not,
like your devotional writing for one...........

It is our love for it and the desire to create beauty that drives us to create a certain atmosphere for the enjoyment of others. Hey, different strokes for different folks, but glad you enjoy them..........that is the whole point!

    Blessings sweetie,
Merry Christmas, and I like your natural tree,
I am all about living stress free...........
and thanks for your well wishes about my back!
It is great to be feeling good again.

  5. I love your trees!
I've often thought that about decorating Christmas trees ~ how can you ever top the beauty of nature?

I think just seeing a bit of greenery here and there as you turn a corner of your home is beautiful! Enjoy!
    Love and Prayers,

  6. I'm so much into simplicity, I threw away my bucket and mop for a steam mop!
I was thinking today that tinsel would be pretty hanging from my garland on the mantle. That's as far as that thoughts going to go...and I'm satisfied with just thinking of it. Isn't a gift to reach such wisdom! LOL!

  9. I've been missing in action this past month. Just so many things swirling around in my head and writing projects due before Christmas. I took time tonight to read through your posts and I'm thankful I did. So many treasure truths are in your words.

I couldn't come up with a gift idea for my husband. However, I was delighted with the new mahogany leather Names of God Bible he choose. It will help me keep the tinsel of my life to a minimum.
