O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!
I've decided to turn off the news for awhile. I have been spending far too much time mulling over the events of the past week. They are sordid, sad, and sinful. Today I will spend time "filling (my mind) and meditating on things true, noble, reputable,
authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful,
not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse." (Philippians 4:8-9, The Message)
10. fine hours spent in the company of a fine husband yesterday
11. American heroes
Well said, Rebecca. I can always count on you to put things in proper perspective.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
Yes, so grateful for our national heroes, including my first cousin who returns from Afghanistan tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAnd remembering today, with gratitude, those who've fought and died for something greater than themselves.
Amen to turning off the news. I prefer to open the Word instead where I always find the real truth.
ReplyDeleteGod bless America and our wonderful veterans and those still in the battle for our freedom.
Have a beautiful weekend.
God Bless America! And a big Thank You to those who have served to protect us all. I understand the news thing Rebecca. There are some days I just don't want to hear it. Love Di ♥
ReplyDeletei'v been endeavoring to fill my mind with good and godly things also. That verse tells how to do it.
ReplyDeleteMe too Rebecca...turning off the news. It's all horrible. Thanks for the encouragment here and hope you have a great weekend.
