Music...Poetry...Picture

"A man should hear a little music,
 read a little poetry,
and see a fine picture
 every day of his life,
in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful
which God has implanted in the human soul."
Goethe
And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant)
and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
Genesis 1:31

I'd just have to add "nature/creation" to music, poetry and picture.  I like the Amplified Version above..."God approved it completely"!
These small books (all found in thrift stores) have heightened my appreciation for various artists and styles of art.  I've placed them to be convenient for browsing or more detailed study.

How do YOU interject music, poetry, pictures and nature
into the hours of your day?

  1. I agree that nature must be included in art--the Master Artist would like that, too.

I listen to praise music at work all day, read the Psalms and other Scriptures, and fill the walls of my home with art.

  2. Well...I start my day in prayer and in the scriptures...reading my devotional for the day...listen to CHRISTian music...watch squirrels and birds outside my "computer window"....and love on and adore two little GRANDsons....thanking HIM from whom all blessings flow!

  3. Hi Rebecca

This is another beautiful post. Yes... I agree 100%. I visit my garden as soon as I awake each morning. Still dark, it's beautiful, misty, serene, and life giving.

Thank you for your visit to my latest blog post. It was dated Sept 30, but I only finished posting all the pictures a few days ago, that is why you didn't see it on Sept. 30.

You asked how things have been... well, not easy. Thanks for caring enough to ask.

    Love

  6. Morning Rebecca,
and thanks for your prayers and well wishes. You are right... I am getting very excited about the big day, and even more excited to hear about how their trip went. They will arrive back to their new home on late Monday evening.
Things are clicking along here, and accomplishing a lil each day, so it is coming together, it is all the last minute things that you can't do early that concerns me, but I know the Lord knows how important it all is to me, and that as always the stuff that really needs to get done will get done. One thing you could pray for if you feel so led, is that I can easily find the fresh flowers I need to make some floral arrangements.

In answer to your question about the music, books, nature and beauty. I am a firm believer that what Goethe said is true, that is why I love to sit in my backyard or even look out and see all the squirrels scurrying about or the birds taking birdbaths, plus I put books around in my home, play music quite often, and feather my nest............
Oh, and I really liked Andy Rooney too, he made some excellent points, and yes........common sense seems to be becoming a lost art, and as one Pastor said, can't remember who now, but he said
"Common sense just isn't so common anymore" and I have to concur. Course, it makes sense, as we lose the wisdom of God because of folks who want nothing to do with Him, there will be no wisdom at all. Cause wisdom comes from Him,
    Sad but true!!

Well, you have a lovely weekend hon,
It has been so nice and cool this week, just wonderful and finally feels like Fall. Such a
    blessing.

    Love and Blessings,
    Nellie
