Has it already been a couple of weeks since Andy Rooney did his final gig on 60 Minutes? Do I remember correctly that he is 92? (I DO remember being suprised at how short and stooped in posture he appeared as he got up and walked away from his desk...)
I'm not a big fan of TV in general and don't watch any particular show with regularity. But every time I watched Andy Rooney's segment that closed out Sunday night's 60 Minutes, I enjoyed it!
In speaking of him, someone (I don't remember who) called Mr. Rooney "The chronicler of the particular". I think that's why I liked his commentary. He could take the most ordinary subject and make it interesting. With common sense and dry wit, he supplied perspective and frequently elevated the ridiculous to the level of sublime.
I miss Andy Rooney.
The world needs common sense, wit, and perspective.
There are still a lot of particulars out there waiting to be chronicled!
