where the Spirit of God cannot work through you,
where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,
where the army of God cannot protect you,
where the hands of God cannot mold you.
The will of God will never take you,
where the love of God cannot enfold you,
where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,
where the peace of God cannot calm your fears
where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.
The will of God will never take you,
where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
where the Word of God cannot feed you,
where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,
where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.
This morning, I needed some reassuring.
Current circumstances don't support this, but I know it's true
I'm banking my LIFE on it! On Him, actually.
(Try reading it aloud, substituting "me" for "you"!)
I'm sorry that I copied this without copying the source.
Let me know if you know its origins, please.
Some people may regard my recent "finds" at my favorite thrift stores
as small, but I consider them very real and personal tokens
of the mercy and kindness of God to me.
Some of them will find their way into "friendship gifts"
-- tied to a jar of honey or holding some mini-muffins.

I have this poem bookmarked on my computer.
ReplyDeleteI have seen it listed with three different
authors but more often than not as author
unknown. It is a beautifully reassuring
word for sure. Thanks for reminding me of
it this morning.

Have a blessed day, Rebecca.

ReplyDeleteThis weekend we attended a memorial service for very dear friends whose 32 year old son suddenly passed away. They are clinging to the reassurance of these words. I'm so thankful they have this blessed assurance that will carry them in their time of grief, and I'm so thankful to have this assurance every day of my life.
I am copying it off right now...putting it in large print and nailing it to my wall!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know in my heart but my head keeps getting in the way...then the emotions follow.
Love your finds...I posted thrift store finds today also...God is fun and faithful.
Awesome reminder! God is great!

You always have the most beautiful messages in your lovely blog and this one is no exception. I try to live my life like this, but my mind gets on the way and sometimes I screw things up!
