Work and Play

G'pa & G'son work together to trim up a large bush.
G'daughter & Cabbage Patch Premie enjoying a tea party on back patio.
G'son liked the peach flavored soda water, too!
 Later in the clothesline tent...
they set up house and find
plenty of room to stand up...
G'son remembered a "bug habitat" he found the last time he visited.
Insects provide endless fascinations for this child!
We work, we play,
we run, we stay;
we read, we build,
we paint, we filled
our days
with games and giggles,
yawns and wiggles.
At end of day
we bathe and pray,
and dream of
yet another day
to work and play
and run and stay...
and wish it could
always
 be this way.

  1. Clothesline tents are really the best kind and make very cute and sweet looking grandkids very happy.

  2. Well let me see, I could use G'pa and G'son for some trimmin' around here too.
The tea party looked like a great time (that's where I'd be!).
The tent, oh I remember those days, maybe Katie, Natasha and I should make one before my surgery. Or maybe they may want to keep me in one after my surgery! LOL!!!!
And the bugs, I'm sure we can find plenty in our yard for the Grandson's to play with!!
What a wonderful summer day Rebecca, blessed beauty!! Love Di ♥

  3. Love days with grandchildren, yours are adorable. We also do the tents but since I don't have a clothesline we put a sheet between two chairs.

  5. Hi Rebecca,
Wow, you are getting lots of time with your grandchildren lately, how wonderful for them and you!! Loved that clothesline tent, looks like such fun. I remember when we used to make a tent out of my dining room table by throwing sheets over it. Kids loved it, actually Mom did too!!

Your gdaughter looks like she is taking quite good care of her cabbage patch doll. My daughter had one of those too. In fact, we tried twice on separate vacations to go to Cabbage patch General where they make them, but both times they were closed.
    Just weren't mean to be............

Have fun with those grandbabies, and did you dust off that waffle iron yet??? lol

    Blessings, Nellie

  6. Just found your blog and have to say, I love your motto...keep is sane, simple, and sacred. Looks like you're enjoying those grandchildren. Mine (two of the thirteen) arrive tomorrow and I'm excited! Hope you'll visit me sometime at www.thingsthatarelovely.blogspot.com

  7. Great poem, Rebecca! That describes it so well! It looks like your activities are pretty similar to our activities with grandkids! How I miss them when they go home!

  8. We had a tea party this week too! How did you get the clothesline tent to stay "apart"? (this granny has a lot to learn!) And are those tablecloths that you used? My grands would LOVE this! Oh boy, your poem has me in tears already this morning. Did you write that? I'm melancholy about it being August already. School starts here on the 24th and I feel cheated :(

  9. That poem completely sums up a day at grandma's house! Can I come play?

  11. Hi Rebecca
This is such a special post. Your name came gently to my heart tonight... I wanted to know how you have been. So here I am.

Looks like you've been enjoying the grands.

And the Ethiopian born one... isn't she amazing? I pray she will learn to trust more, and eventually quiet down a bit.

Have prayed for you and your family just now... "Please God protect them from the heatwave."

    Much love
    Lidj

  12. My grands live a mere 5 minutes away so I don't often get an extended stay. But it IS the best job ever.

The post above this made me laugh. I went to Sea World with my "almost sister." She wouldn't go on the roller coasters but I did. After the third time when Vincent said, "Auntie lets go on it again" I decided Auntie was fresh out of steam!
