Paths: Fancy and Plain

It was a pleasant, sunny Friday afternoon.  My husband suggested a drive, so we headed north a few miles.  We walked in a beautiful neighborhood, and my eyes were drawn to foot paths - plain and fancy.  You can see several more of them HERE.  If I had my druthers, I'd choose the simple, plain paths.

It's the same with the "path of life" for me.  I'd choose plain and simple every time.  But the choice is not mine.  So I'll be content with what He chooses and find pleasure in knowing His Presence goes with me.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  Psalm 16:11

I'd enjoy hearing about the paths and sidewalks at YOUR house.  Anything unique?
And may God bless your path today--wherever it takes you.

  1. Your ability to say in just a few words so much...I know I missed that gift when handed out in heaven.
    This was great!

  2. Sometime I think plain and simple are the best paths to take my friend. I also think it is such an individual thing, we are all so different....Hugs

  3. You have such neat ideas! My daughter loves to travel down country dirt roads. She always comments, "that looks interesting," when we happen upon a "new" old tree-lined road. I beat a hasty path back to our woods the other day after not being able to go back there all summer due to a corn crop in our field. It was too hard to get through. There are several HUGE rocks in our woods and four or five of them are wonderfully situated at the back edge. There is one that is flat-topped and another makes a great footstool. I sit there and stare off into the vast fields beyond and no one is around. I call them my "thinking rocks." The path out to the thinking rocks (though it's really no path) is one of my favorite paths to take.

  4. Yesterday my computer wouldn't load the pictures of your blog. Today I saw the paths and I remembered my English garden. I have taken great pains to make a flower garden with many paths.
    some are being lined gradually with brick others are just wood chips. I also have a few flat stones here and there for stepping on between the flower beds! But the best path in life I ever took was to make Jesus my Saviour and follow Him!

  6. I too would choose the plain and simple path, and try to; but like you know I don't have a choice and am so thankful of the COMPANY that goes with me.
    The paths around here are gravel filled, and simple, but enjoy walking them none the less, enjoyed the photos, two very different paths.

    As always I leave blessed with much to ponder.
