Westward Ho

It was dark with morning's unique darkness
as we started our three and a half hour journey westward.
Gradually I was aware of the sun rising behind us.
Its orangeness emerged.  Shyly at first.
Then boldly brilliant.
I saw it in the car's mirror at my right side.
I turned awkwardly to see it behind us
and turned frequently to watch its progress.
Before long, I became aware that its emerging whiteness shined
on objects in front of us -- to our left and to our right.
 Everything it touched was highlighted.
Beautified.  Enhanced. Nothing remained obscure!
It was stunning really.  And I was reminded that God
through His prophet Isaiah said to His people:
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
    and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you.
Isaiah 60:1-2
 Lord, rise upon ME!
Let Your light shine on ME!
Let your glory be seen upon Me!
