My Birthday and Facebook

I'm still reeling from all the birthday wishes I received via Facebook yesterday - Christmas Day.
Yes, I have a Christmas birthday.  I've had 66 of them, actually.
How technology has impacted (and in some ways - invaded) our lives today!
I guess I didn't realize how much.
I used to separate reality and virtual reality,
but after yesterday the line is not so clear to me anymore...
The fact that I and over 100 people in my small circle of friends
were on Facebook on Christmas Day has prompted me to evaluate
and very probably adjust my personal habits in 2015.

How about YOU?
Anyone else doing some serious thinking on this subject?

  1. Belated Happy Birthday...........facebook can make you feel like a real celebrity......I have to say,
I rarely go on there, but on my birthday I get all these birthday wishes, and it is overwhelmingly
amazing to me, and precious that so many took the time to wish lil ol me a Happy Birthday.
So I would suggest you simply enjoy it...................

Hope you had a pain free Christmas............and how are you coming along by the way??

We have done nada, nothing,, and it has been

Blessings hon, and Hope your Christmas and Birthday was great!

    1. Oh, it was sweet that so many took the time (and I know full well that it was because of the Facebook prompt). My amazement was that so many were on the computer or phone on Christmas Day.

I did NOT have a pain free Christmas - that's another story. But I was very thankful to be able to spend the actual day with my parents. Don't know how many more Christmases I'll share with them here on earth.

  2. Belated Happy Christmas Birthday!

I am not part of FB so don't have to worry about getting overwhelmed there with all that goes on.

I've started to cut back on time being on the computer as it can take time from things I need to be or should be doing, creatively or otherwise. But after losing my DH, I gravitated to the computer more to fill the void. I am looking forward to 2015 to see what is going to do in my life. This is the start of the third year without my love being by my side, and while I miss him every single day, the grief has lessened and I am moving forward.

Hope you are feeling less pain and growing stronger with each new day.

Love and hugs to you and your husband Rebecca. May 2015 be a great year for you.

    1. You certainly have filled your time with yard & garden work and that beautiful needlework, etc. It's hard for me to believe that you're starting your third year without your DH by your side! Your example of loving, grieving, and moving forward is a strong and encouraging one, Lorraine.

I'm hoping/praying for more mobility in 2015. Physically and emotionally this past year has not been an easy one. Wishing a blessed 2015 for YOU,♥

  3. I felt a strong prompting...actually a close my FB account last April. It was a struggle before making the final decision.....mostly me trying to justify staying. It was a good choice for me .....because I found myself being very judgmental and nosey! :) Prayers for 2015 to hold lots of blessings for you and less pain. Oh, and happy, happy, happy belated birthday!

    1. I may be doing the same (closing my account). It's good to hear from someone who has taken the "plunge"!

  4. Happy Birthday a few days late! I enjoy Facebook for many reasons, including how easy it is to check on friends and relatives and see what they are up to. Especially people who live in other states. I connected with two of my cousins on FB which was great.

    1. That's why I stay on, too, Terra. It is a fine line for me.

  5. As my year of Jubilee approaches, I have taken stock and pulled back from many things that used to hold my interest. ... Happy Birthday Dear Lady! Thank you for allowing us into your home and sharing a bit of your life with us. mari
