Berea

This is Tina at Old Town Thrift Store.
Her voice greeted us as we entered the store.
With her sweet southern accent she promised to make us a "good deal"
on anything we wanted.  Then she added,
"I'm just sitting here reading this old Bible that belonged to a dear friend of my mother."
A conversation ensued that I hope encouraged Tina half as much as I was encouraged!
In spite of a difficult past, Tina was now finding encouragement and hope
in the Word of God.   Together we looked at some of the handwritten
quotations in the fly-leaf of a dear sister in the Lord who probably had NO idea whose hands her old Bible would fall into.
We left with a small pottery piece AND a prayer in our hearts
that the Word of God WILL continue to increase,
and the number of disciples multiply greatly.  (Acts 6:7)
It was to be our only stop in Berea, KY.  We spent more time in one thrift store than we'd planned
and had some miles to go before we slept....
As I fastened my seat belt, I was reminded of Tina's counterparts--Bereans, also.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica,
for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day
to see if what Paul said was true.  (Acts 17:11)

My "take home" from this experience is to be a noble, daily,  receptor and examiner
of God's Word!

    1. Sorry to have missed you. We were in Waynesville today (Monday)! Saw the bare courthouse yard :(. Gary played Lake Junalusko (spelling?) course; my brother and I thrifted after a stop in the coffee shop for some reading/conversation/internet.

      It was a BEAUTIFUL day.

    3. We crossed paths in Waynesville, probably.
I would have love to have met you. I have never met a blogging friend...and I long to do that. We'll meet there one day, I predict! :))
We left Waynesville this morning around 10:30. We stopped at Hardees (near Wal Mart and Best Buy)....ate breakfast and then, got on the road.
We are now home (Florida for my parents and South Georgia for me.)
I'm glad that Gary played at Lake Junaluska. That is such a beautiful area.
Have fun and travel safely, my friend.
      Hugs and love,
      Jackie
