Shaking it up

It was sort of a spontaneous decision I made yesterday
to accompany my husband to his out-of-state meeting...
Walking into the lobby of the hotel last night,
I was met by bright and unexpected shapes and colors.
They certainly contrast with the grey, cold and wet weather outside this morning!
Since the weather is so blah, I've decided to spend the morning in the hotel room
using the time to journal, read the Word, reflect, and plan.
Then later, we'll explore a bit together before heading home this evening.
Spontaneity is good sometimes, I think.
It shakes up one's thinking, brings fresh perspectives,
and stimulates creativity.
The older I get, the easier it is for me to settle into habits of space, mind, and practices.
I'm glad I decided to shake it up a bit.
Even God does some times - apparently...

Watch! I'm about to carry out something new!
And now it's springing up— don't you recognize it?
I'm making a way in the wilderness and paths in the desert.
(God, in Isaiah 43:19)

  4. Spontaneity is so difficult for me, I'm working on that. But at times there is an interesting side-effect while reading the Word that stirs within me. The stirring does inspire me to pioneer and experiment into uncharted waters.

    1. Unfortunately, it was only an overnight. Still enjoyable and a change of pace. And I DID spend some time journaling/planning, etc.

  6. Wow. Talk about a vision from the 70s.

I love to shake things up, but I'm not always real fond of having things shaken up FOR me.

Love the new look of your blog!

    1. I DID want to accessorize the hotel lobby a bit though. Aside from a picture or two on the wall there was nothing. For "junkaholic" me, there needed to be books on the coffee table and some flowers or pottery SOMEwhere :)

  9. Hi Rebecca,
Oh wow, what a cheery hotel. Love the colors, and doesn't that just cheer you up.
I go to Target sometimes just because I love all their pretty colors of everything,
    just makes my heart Happy!!
Good for you that you made a quick decision to go, I am not as spontaneous as I used
to be, so I am trying to get back to that...........I think when you start having a lot of physical issues, that can kill your spontaneity, at least that is what has done it to me.........lol
Hope you enjoyed your lovely stay there.
    Blessings, Nellie
