Chain of Events

One thing led to another. We heeded our children's urgings and got new Smart Phones. While being informed about the various options, we discovered that we could get rid of our land phones. We'd already discontinued long distance on them since we used our old cell phones for that. We'd only hung onto our land line to have wi-fi access for our laptops.

NOW, for just a tad less $$$ monthly, we have Verizon Home Fusion! But the process of installation involved most of the day Saturday. And the process is not over!

I cannot begin to describe the chain of events that began with taking books off a bookshelf in order to reach an old cable outlet...then a foray into seldom-accessed-under-the-eaves-storage (that's it behind the white desktop in the first photo)...

then a frenzied purging, a few tears,

and a determination to see this process to the end if it takes me FOREVER!

I'm thinking this Epiphany Sunday morning of another Chain of Events, summed up in The Birthday of a King (one of my favorite Christmas songs).

And I'm also remembering that most every action I take sets off another chain of events! You will always harvest what you plant. (Galatians 6:7) Decisions and choices I make today impact MY life and, frequently, the lives of others. I guess that's why Paul wrote: So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. (Ephesians 4:15-17)

So, while I pray for wisdom to know how to program and use my Smart Phone, I pray for wisdom for living every moment of my life for the purposes and glory of my Lord Jesus.

Wonderful post, today, Rebecca, we have talked about doing away with our land lines, and haven't for the same reson you didn't. Thanks for the info.
I guess Saturday was a day to reorganize books shelves as I and another blogger friend did ours, but for a different reason. Yours looks great, I haven't finished as of yet, just taking me a little longer these days.
I am thinking this beautiful Sunday morning of the most precious gift ever given to the world! The correct word for today is Epiphany, but my Mom always called it "Old Christmas", and always left her nativity up until Jan. 6.
Your prayer for the new year is so sweet, my desire is to live every moment for His glory too.

Your insight in this beginning of the year keeps me convicted and thinking.
You will enjoy that smart phone after you get use to it...my husband loves that he can talk into it and it will text for him...all our kids respond to is text. LOL

Certainly Actions almost always = Chain of Events in my World too my Friend! Hope your Smart Phone Experience turns out to be all that you Hoped it might? I'm pretty sure a Smart Phone would outsmart me so I'm not quite there yet to receive one... I can't even figure out how to turn on The Son's Smart Phone so I'm still using my old funky one that embarrasses him every time I flip it open in Public! *LOL* Thanks for coming for a visit and NO, the Problem isn't fixed... those are Old Images Resurrected... the Blogger Problem seems to be limited to the Browse Function to load NEW Images that haven't been used before... and so I'm Jonesin' to have a Fresh Post with New Images to Share!

Love the fact that you got a smartphone. My hubby has the latest...I have an older version. That's quite fine with me as I pay less per month for my service plan than he does...I can hit the net, but my screen is a wee bit smaller than his.

we're planning to nix our land line as well...and wondered about the wi-fi situation. We are also nixing our TV...Both have become annoyances that we can do without and will save us $ too. We have AT&T for our cell phones so I'm hoping they can fix us up...without too many chains of events!

I need my land line for Frank to send in his readings of his defibrillator to the hospital. That is one reason we do not have a cell phone. I do not want two payments. I can relate to having to change things around. I added a mirror behind my sofa and now need to replace the mirror in the dinning area with a picture. :)
