Out our front door at about 5:50 to walk the block and a half to the polls
this morning. Though dark, the stars and moon shone brightly.
Already - a long line.
There was a quiet, almost somber spirit, it seemed to me....
This gentleman passed donuts along the line.
Harlan donuts - made right here in our small town.
Soon after we arrived, the doors opened and we could see our fellow citizens
passing through the registration line.
It was warmer inside and snake-like lines were formed
to accommodate more people while waiting.
to accommodate more people while waiting.
God bless America.
May HIS will be done - on earth as it is in heaven.
(And kudos to all who staffed our voting place this morning.)

it is wonderful to see so many turning out to vote. Will be stopping by my polling station later today :)
ReplyDeleteWe just came back from voting! Wondering how you took the pictures inside?? A sign at the beginning of our polling place says "cell phones off and no cameras allowed." The was a steady flow of people but not the crowd you had. The Lord's will be done. Ann
ReplyDeleteI won't say there wasn't a sign...but I didn't see it. Hope I don't get arrested!
Deletefor some reason, this made me want to weep.
ReplyDeleteit seemed like a holy event.
i just voted, too.
...to me, too -- a holy event.
DeleteI felt the same as you and Lea. I wanted to weep and almost did today as my husband and I voted. Hardly anyone was even at our library up the street where we vote. It seemed sad and somber and no one was smiling at all. We had already been praying, then went and voted and came home to watch and wait. God have mercy on this country.
ReplyDeleteThis whole day has felt like that to me too. I'm antsy and yet I remind myself, as I keep reminding my hubby... look higher, God is in control. Throughout history there have been both good and evil kings and through it all... He reigns!
ReplyDeleteBut even so, on this Tuesday, I wait and pray just like everyone else.
If my nails weren't put on at a nail salon, I'd be biting them right now watching this election!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't and didn't watch.
DeleteWow it was busy there Rebecca! And free donuts? I want to live in your town!!
ReplyDeleteJake and I voted two weeks ago. We have early voting in Illinois which is very convenient for Jake as he is never home on a Tuesday.
When we still lived in Chicago, I worked the polls for three years. It was a very exciting job. Especially back in those days. All of us Board of Election Judges brought potluck dishes in as we weren't allowed to leave all day. It was great! Love Di ♥
Interestingly, this fellow had a hard time giving them away...
DeleteHaving the flu, I'm soooo glad there was no one at our precinct passing out donuts!
ReplyDeleteWhere we vote it's only three houses down from us at a Korean Christian Reformed Church. We DROVE there. But, I voted!
Wow, Judy. I sure hope you are getting past this flu! Says a lot re. your passion for the future of our country that you got out to vote.
