Fortunately and Unfortunately

Our children left us off at the railroad station a few minutes before 11:00 p.m.
Our son-in-law had to make the 30 minute drive back
to their hometown to work the night shift.
Unfortunately, we were unable to open the station doors.
Either they were locked or we tried to pull them out instead of pushing them in.
Either way, the train wasn't scheduled to leave until 2:59 a.m.
Fortunately, 2 blocks away, the Druber Donut Shop light was on (above).
Unfortunately, its hours were from 11:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
So, we sat our luggage down outside and waited 30 minutes until the doors opened.
Once opened, we found our way to a table near a plug in
 and piled our luggage there.
 Unfortunately, they didn't have wi-fi.
Fortunately they had donuts.
And apparently the students from the local college liked them!
For a steady hour (at least), they lined up for fresh-baked donuts.
Two and a half hours later, we carried our luggage to the station, pushed the door inward,
and joined at least 20 other folk waiting for the 2:59 a.m. train.
Fortunately, they have wi-fi here and I'm getting this post done.
Unfortunately, I'm very, VERY sleepy.
Fortunately, I should have NO trouble falling to sleep once on board.

"Be WAITING for the Lord, and keep his way; and you will be lifted up, and have the land for your heritage: when the evil-doers are cut off, you will see it." Psalms 37:34

"Do not say, I will give punishment for evil: go on WAITING for the Lord, and he will be your Savior." Proverbs 20:22

"And those who have knowledge of Your Name will put their faith in You; because you, Lord, have ever given Your help to those who were WAITING for you." Psalms 9:10

"See! as the eyes of servants are turned to the hands of their masters, and the eyes of a servant-girl to her owner, so our eyes are WAITING for the Lord our God, till he has mercy on us." Psalms 123:2

"I am WAITING for the Lord, my soul is waiting for Him, and my hope is in His Word." Psalms 130:5

  2. The scriptures you have shared are so perfect for this post, Rebecca, both of you seem to embrace this waiting with so much grace. I am looking forward to traveling by train someday soon, it has been awhile.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your weekend.

  5. oh my, what an adventure. Glad to see your sense of humor was intact! Seems like very strange hours for a donut shop to be open! Hopefully you didn't drink too much coffee and got some sleep on the train! Have a wonderful trip!

    1. They begin baking late at night for the next day. They open their doors from 11:30 at night to 2:30 the next afternoon. It's a small college town, so the students come in for VERY fresh donuts and a little recreation before going to bed or back to studies (?) There were a couple of other couples & even a family that came in! I guess we miss a lot of action by going to bed so early!!!!

  9. Traveling memories! Hot doughnuts while waiting for an early morning train ride. I remember my late nights as a college student. I'm glad for the wisdom of later years.

You all are too funny. Love the white suitcase!

  11. Honestly, donuts are better than wi-fi. But donuts and wi-fi together is LOTS better!
