Inspiration WILL Find Me

Several weeks ago now, my husband cut up a VERY large chalkboard into pieces to fit old frames we had.  I listed them on some local facebook garage sale sites, and we sold several of them.   I had a couple remaining and got tired of listing them.

This morning I decided to put forth one more effort.  I brought in the one you see above, drew the huge pumpkin on it, took the obligatory pictures and posted it.  (Incidentally, in the process, I propped it up in front of our fake fireplace and discovered that it REALLY looked great there!  I almost wished no one would want it.)

But by mid-afternoon, I had an inquiry.  We made arrangements, and I met her at a prearranged location where she purchased it.  Tonight, my fireplace stands empty, and my billfold is a little fuller.
(Well, not really, 'cause I drove across the road and spent it at the grocery store.)

The whole experience serves as an example of the validity of Picasso's statement which currently appears in the Quote Box  at the top of this blog:  "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working."  While working, I had SO many ideas of other simple sketches I could do over the holidays if the board didn't sell.

Oh well.  I'll wake up with fresh energy to work again.  I'm sure that inspiration WILL find me once more.

  1. Oh, you are quite clever! I am surprised that you were willing to part with it! :)

    1. Cheryl, I DO have another that's been hanging on the wall for quite awhile...I'm going to get out the tape measure and see if it happens to fill the "fireplace hole". There was just something about that placement that I liked...

  2. I love the's very useful! Inspiration. Inspire. Inspiring. Inspired. Inspires. Yes, very useful.

  3. I really loved the chalkboard idea Rebecca. I also like the option of changing out the images for the holidays. My Fireplace is curved in the front so I couldn't do that but what I do instead is I have made different little skirts (I guess you'd call them) for different seasons that I hang around the top front of the mantel. Right now I have an Autumn leaf one which will be changed for Christmas. I love the chalkboard, very unique!
    Love Di ♥

    1. Oh, WOW, Diana! I'd love to see a picture. That sounds VERY interesting! Great idea!

  4. I'm going to try and post tonight, I'll take a photo of it. I've had so many appointments, paperwork and haven't been feeling great on top of everything!!! Dealing with attorneys, bad stuff. Anyway that's why I haven't posted. But I will make an effort tonight. Love Di ♥

  5. Good morning Rebecca! (love your name, btw!) :)
Thank you so much for entering my giveaway. You know,
I have been in a state of sadness this week with all of
the devastation. I think God must have wanted me to find your
beautiful and inspirational blog! And I love the quote about
inspiration exists - it has to find you working. I say this because
I was to be sewing all week for the stores I sell at, but have
been glued to the weather channel. So today I will take your advice
and get busy. :) Saved your blog to my favorite files so I can come
back and read more. LOVE your style!! Way to go on selling the chalkboards. You have such a God given talent!

    1. Thanks, Becky :) I added you to my sidebar. That's MY "version" of "following" since it seems to keep changing :)

  6. this makes for a great story
    and inspiration at the same

    i love your pumpkin fire!!

  7. Now that the party is over I am going to clean my "inspiration" room and hope that while I am working I become more inspired
    Wow...what a fast sell
