After a week of many concentrated hours
and much "elbow grease"
my husband pronounced this table "finished".
Per my request, he didn't remove the distressed parts of the wood.
That is my favorite part of the table top!
Well, the distress part AND the drop leaves...
I don't  need another table in the house,
but I'm kind of desperate to find a place for THIS one.
It has really grown on me.
It reminds me that
God has invested a lot in me, too.
Hours AND "elbow grease"!
The cross!
The "distress marks" on my life remind me of a Charles Spurgeon statement:
“The Lord's mercy often rides to the door of our heart upon the black horse of affliction.”
And one day - maybe soon - He will pronounce me
"Dear friends, now we are the children of God.  We have not yet been shown
what we will be in the future.  But we know that when Christ comes again,
we will be like him.  We will see him just as he is.
He is pure, and everyone who has this hope in him
keeps themselves pure like Christ" (I John 3:2-3)

  1. What a great post! I loved the quote by Charles Spurgeon. It will wonderful to be like Jesus, and be one of His 'finished' beautiful creations.

    Thank you Rebecca for this.

  2. This table is beautiful and I also love the distressed spots and drop leaves. Let us know where you decide to put it. The Spurgeon quote really speaks to my heart.
    Have a lovely day, Rebecca!

  3. Wow..I will always remember this quote you just shared with us: "I can't and God can"...I will keep this in my mind for ever. I love your new drop leaves table, I would try to find her a place too! Like your other lovely quote by Charles Spurgeon, God does create beautiful things and to prove it, here I posted a picture of the river I see from my kitchen window, hope you like to come back and see it! Have a blessed sunday and a great week.

  4. your husband's table is quite beautiful.
i have a drop leaf table that i adore and
find it to be tremendously useful.

  5. Beautiful table...what a lovely gift from your husband!
And, oh yes, what a beautiful gift from our be called the children of God! Amazing!!

  6. I like the distressed look and if you like it that much and are anything like this fellow thrifter, you WILL find a place for it!
    Love Di ♥

  7. I like that you left the distressed gives it a lot of character. I hope you can find a space. I kind of like the Lord working with me...always something new to learn or re-learn.

  8. Love the table. My style. I have a similar one in my kitchen. At least from the same decade!
