Sing Like Never Before.....

My small but mighty keyboard surprises me with its options!
After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to SING to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying, "Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever."  As they began to SING and PRAISE, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mout Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.  2 Cnronicles 20:21-22
I was SO encouraged by the devotional thought my husband and I read together
this morning from More Precious than Silver by Joni EarecksonTada!
Our faithful piano (definitely deserves a tuning)
She concluded, "If you're fighting darkness or engaged in a spiritual conflict, if the Enemy is  poised and ready to attack, the best defense is to sing.  It's a way of resisting the Devil.  Singing is also the best offense.  Songs of praise will confuse the Enemy and send the Devil's hoards hightailing.  So pick a hymn, any hymn.  Choose a Scripture chorus.  Or make up your own melody to a favorite portion of Scripture.  Victory over the Enemy can be yours for a song."
This past week, all my siblings and mother and father were privileged to be together.
A good part of the evening was spent around the piano...singing songs of faith.
My heart is full.  My hope is strong.
Though concerned ("horrified" is a better word)
by the political climate and state of my beloved country,
I WILL sing like never before--whatever may pass and whatever lies before me!

"The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I worship your holy name"

  1. Love this and just a great idea to take to work with me today! Love it when a song gets stuck in my head. Doesn't happen often but so fun when it does!

  2. Rebecca I started singing praises from an old hymnal every morning before I pray and do my Bible study over a year ago and it has changed my life. I have sung my way through many trials...I can not carry a tune but I do not let that stop me. :)

  4. That's one of my favorite songs right now, Ms. Rebecca. We've been singing it at church the last few SONday's. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I think I've pretty much overdid it and will be paying for it the next few days, I'm sure. I'm hurting in places that seem quite strange to be in pain!!! ;-) HOPE you have a great weekend!

  7. Playing the piano keeps me sane. Sometimes there are little bell ringers in the room with me. That makes me smile, but can tend to threaten the sanity a bit.

  12. Hi Rebecca,
Have miss you girl....so glad to catch up on your posts I have missed.
Amen to that being a great way to chase off the enemy, so true, and he never gives up trying always trying something new once you're on to what he is up to one way, he will try to slide something else past us. but greater is He who is in us that he who is in the world, Thank You Jesus!!

Looks like you were having a great time with your sweet grandchildren, as they
seemed to be enjoying it as well. That's great you got to spend time with them.

Loved your segway experience, you looked so cute on that thing, and how fun
to have another first experience! and yes, they do energize us and challenge us and make us grow.........let's here it for growing!! lol
Looked like a ton of fun. We have a mall here that has all their security guards riding them around the mall. Always looks like fun to me.........

Also loved that fasting poem or whatever you would call it......and yes, I too, think it might help anyones blood pressure. It was a wonderful list and really stops to make you think. They gave some great alternatives for feasting as well. Really liked that!

Sounds like you are doing well hon, so glad to hear that!
Take Care and have a great weekend!!
    blessings, Nellie

  15. RB and I often use the Hymnal as part of our devotional time. Music speaks to the soul, I think.
