My small but mighty keyboard surprises me with its options! |
I was SO encouraged by the devotional thought my husband and I read together
this morning from More Precious than Silver by Joni EarecksonTada!
Our faithful piano (definitely deserves a tuning) |
This past week, all my siblings and mother and father were privileged to be together.
A good part of the evening was spent around the piano...singing songs of faith.
My heart is full. My hope is strong.
Though concerned ("horrified" is a better word)
by the political climate and state of my beloved country,
I WILL sing like never before--whatever may pass and whatever lies before me!
Though concerned ("horrified" is a better word)
by the political climate and state of my beloved country,
I WILL sing like never before--whatever may pass and whatever lies before me!
"The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I worship your holy name"

Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me

Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I worship your holy name"

Love this and just a great idea to take to work with me today! Love it when a song gets stuck in my head. Doesn't happen often but so fun when it does!
ReplyDeleteRebecca I started singing praises from an old hymnal every morning before I pray and do my Bible study over a year ago and it has changed my life. I have sung my way through many trials...I can not carry a tune but I do not let that stop me. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Lord INHABITS the praises of His people! What a testimony you've just given to the power of praise, Dee! Keep on singing!
DeleteOh I need to sing this morning...the battle is strong and this is just such a wonderful reminder. I love the visual of you and your family around the piano singing...yes, the best warfare, singing praises!
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite songs right now, Ms. Rebecca. We've been singing it at church the last few SONday's. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I think I've pretty much overdid it and will be paying for it the next few days, I'm sure. I'm hurting in places that seem quite strange to be in pain!!! ;-) HOPE you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Rebecca! I love, love, love singing hymns. Sometimes I go on Youtube and find a favorite to sing along with.
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
What a great idea - finding them on YouTube! Why don't you come visit me. We'll sing our little hearts out :)
DeleteMusic never fails to touch the heartstrings and pull me from a place of less to a higher plane! I love the old hymns, so much good theology packed into them.
ReplyDeleteGlad for your time with family around the piano. Memories to last a lifetime.

Playing the piano keeps me sane. Sometimes there are little bell ringers in the room with me. That makes me smile, but can tend to threaten the sanity a bit.
ReplyDeleteBell ringers! What great accompaniment! "From the mouth (bells) of children He has ordained praise!"
DeleteOh, I agree! Singing songs of the faith, in worship to Him, is so strengthening! I'd love to sing hymns with you around the piano!
ReplyDeleteCome, Cheryl. We will sing!

There's nothing better than having a song in your heart. It's one of the best ways to think on *things above* !!
ReplyDeleteI love these thoughts that Joni shared! Such good truth!
ReplyDeleteI love to hear Fernando Ortega's arrangements of some of my favorite hymns and sing along!

Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteHave miss you girl....so glad to catch up on your posts I have missed.
Amen to that being a great way to chase off the enemy, so true, and he never gives up trying always trying something new once you're on to what he is up to one way, he will try to slide something else past us. but greater is He who is in us that he who is in the world, Thank You Jesus!!
Looks like you were having a great time with your sweet grandchildren, as they
seemed to be enjoying it as well. That's great you got to spend time with them.
Loved your segway experience, you looked so cute on that thing, and how fun
to have another first experience! and yes, they do energize us and challenge us and make us grow.........let's here it for growing!! lol
Looked like a ton of fun. We have a mall here that has all their security guards riding them around the mall. Always looks like fun to me.........
Also loved that fasting poem or whatever you would call it......and yes, I too, think it might help anyones blood pressure. It was a wonderful list and really stops to make you think. They gave some great alternatives for feasting as well. Really liked that!
Sounds like you are doing well hon, so glad to hear that!
Take Care and have a great weekend!!
blessings, Nellie
Also thanks for coming by and for your Congrats on our new grandbaby to come.
ReplyDeleteand yes..........I am sure you will be hearing more about it. Think we aren't
gonna find out the gender now until the middle of October for some reason.
Poo! was thinking it was only a few weeks away.
bye now! Nellie
I love songs like this, lovely lady Rebecca. I know I will be humming it all day and night! I'd love to be singing along with you at the piano to praise the Lord. I'm leaving many things in His hands lately and I know they'll be ok. I'm happy you are well dear friend and thank you for your generous and kind visit, I always love it! Have a blessed week.

RB and I often use the Hymnal as part of our devotional time. Music speaks to the soul, I think.
