This past weekend, I found two pieces of pottery in a thrift store
to add to my collection.
Their shapes, colors and designs caught my eye--
as did the amazing price!
Pottery ALWAYS reminds me that...
Still, God, you are our Father.
We're the clay and you're our potter:
All of us are what you made us.
We're the clay and you're our potter:
All of us are what you made us.
(Isaiah 64:8)
It's so easy for me to try to take the potter's bench myself...
thinking I can shape my self or my circumstances.
How much better to rest in the hands of the Master Potter
Who made me in the FIRST place
and is completing me to suit His all-knowing, all-loving,
and all-wise plan...
Still, God, you are MY Father!
Still, God, you are MY Father!
Beautiful and unusual pottery, Rebecca! Great thoughts on how it is better to allow the Master Potter to take the wheel in our lives! I too have tried to take that wheel many times. Thanks for sharing.

Wise words. Those are two lovely pieces! I especially like the shape of the bowl!
ReplyDeleteI love pottery Rebecca. Those are some really nice pieces. And I completely agree with you. We are in God's hands and it's great to know that we can count on him to shape our lives! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finds...those pieces of pottery! And what truth...that He is the master potter! (I, too, try to "help" Him out sometimes. How much better when I leave the pottery design to Him.)
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge pottery fan; I'm afraid, though, I have far too much of it. I do make good use of mine and enjoy holding the handiwork of the potter in my hands.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!

I love pottery and am hoping since my son married a potter that I might now get some special pieces given to me for birthdays, etc. These pieces are very nice and I'm happy for you having found them. The passage from Isaiah is a favorite and the reason I named our home school The Potter's Clay years ago.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day...
Oh, Sandy! What a wonderful name for your school. (I'm pretty sure I didn't know that...I came to know you "late".)
DeleteGreat reminder. I love pottery and have a collection of different kinds picked up at various art fairs and studios. I would love to take a class to learn to make my own.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vases. I like the shiny glaze, lovely shapes.
ReplyDeleteThe verse goes well with your pottery photo's. I think you have a real talent the way you are able to choose the right verse to go with your posts.
ReplyDeleteYour thrift stores are so much better than any I have ever been into around here.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you connected it to the scripture. I am so grateful that God is using my cracked pot and making me a vessel of his.
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt helps me to remember that God makes all things new. Otherwise, in Heaven, we'd be fighting for all the really cool old stuff!
