I was blessed to participate in a beautiful evening last night.
Well-planned, well-attended and beautifully decorated!
Here are just a few of the scenes I photographed before people arrived.
Men of the church served the beverages
and waited the tables in grand style!
There were tables full of carry-in salads, etc.
and a wonderful dessert bar that included these colorful cupcakes and cookies!

Prior to the program, the girls gave everyone a feather....
and after the program sent everyone home with a cookie wrapped in cellophane.
It was fun to incorporate "feathers" into my talk
(custom-made for this event - which is my favorite approach to speaking).

Psalm 91:4 was the verse I hope everyone remembers:
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.
I have a new and very personal appreciation of this verse
after narrowly missing being in an accident on my trip
to this speaking engagement!
Driving down the road afterwards, I sang,
Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever. ♫

♫ Under His wings I am safely abiding;
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him, I know He will keep me;
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.
Under His wings--what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blest.
Under His wings--oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life's trials are o'er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me;
Resting in Jesus I'm safe evermore.

Beautiful decorations and food! The peacock theme is unique; at least I've never seen it used before. Psalm 91 is very special to me, so I know I would have enjoyed your talk. Glad the angels were watching over you!
ReplyDeleteInteresting out they carried out the peacock theme right into the cookies!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safe!
It really was VERY well done!
DeleteGreat photographs of a splendid event, Rebecca.
ReplyDeleteI love the theme, and it was carried out beautifully...the desserts included.
I'm glad that you missed being in that accident. Praise God for that!
Hugs and love,
Jackie
Wow...that certainly was beautifully decorated!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for His protection over you!!
What a great event; the food and the colors are pretty, and that is a favorite Bible verse of mine, of how He protects us with his wings and feathers. I am sure your talk was a great success.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous theme! We have a monastery in St. David AZ that has peacocks all over the place! So glad you were protected under His wings! God is good.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you weren't in a accident. Everything is beautiful and wonderful scripture for your talk.
ReplyDeletewish we could hear the talk. is there a recording?
ReplyDeletethank the Lord for protecting you.
I dont' think there's a recording.... :)
DeleteI think Doug said the program was taped.
DeleteBeautiful goodies! I find myself singing that old hymn from time to time...I truly believe that there is divine intervention in our lives more than we could ever imagine. Glad you are safe.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to be a part of so many blessings! I love all things peacock! There is a book floating around somewhere called "Peacock Feathers" that was written by an ancestor of mine. It traces the Brown family back to days in England up to my generation. It came up missing and no one seems to know who has it. It would be so fun to read again! I love those cookies too!!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you can find that book, Vicki! It sounds fascinating. (The cookies tasted as good as they looked.)
