Batteries and Belirubin

I had no idea when I posted yesterday just how "circumscribed" my life and times actually are! I woke with a spring in my steps thinking about the church rummage sale I was looking forward to checking out!  When I opened the car door, I noted a strange light lit on the dashboard.  The battery light, to be exact.  A turn of the key produced NOTHING. Apparently, I'd pulled the keys yesterday while in the Accessory Position!  As a result, my whole day is now most certainly "circumscribed".  If you didn't read yesterday's post, circumscribe means:

1 a : to constrict the range or activity of definitely and clearly <his role was carefully circumscribed>
b : to define or mark off carefully <a study of plant species in a circumscribed area>
2 a : to draw a line around b : to surround by or as if by a boundary <fields circumscribed by tall trees>
3 : to construct or be constructed around (a geometrical figure) so as to touch as many points as possible

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps!  Proverbs 16:9
(And I guess that sometimes my own carelessness circumscribes my steps...)

Neither did my daughter and her husband know that their little guy would be readmitted to the hospital yesterday on the fourth day of his life to be treated for a high bilirubin count.  Apparently, this is not unusual in a baby born prematurely as he was - about 4 weeks early.  We are blessed that the treatment brought the count down within 12 hours and he'll be sent home today.

I'm thankful that God is in charge of batteries AND belirubin!
Are YOU aware of having been circumscribed recently?

  2. My sweet Shaun was 3 1/2 weeks early and also had the high belirubin count. He stayed in the hospital a few days after I came home. Glad all is well with the wee new member of your family.

  3. Silas' count was up to 19 when they wanted him back in hospital. By morning (12 hours later) it was 15. Guess they think it will continue to go down now.

  4. Glad to hear little Silas is doing better today. So what did you do with your day after you were redirected? I guess I can say I was circumscribed by illness and loss this week.

    1. I cleaned out a drawer of miscellany & worked a bit on a talk I'm giving to a Ladies' Banquet next week.... And yes, I'd say you WERE circumscribed by illness and loss. I guess we don't get to choose our "circumscription"

  6. Glad your precious Grand is going home today.
Did he have to sleep under the light...or did they use the blanket?
Kisses to him and wishes for a wonderful week at home with Mama and Daddy.

  7. Glad to hear that little Silas is going to be coming back home. It is so stressful to have a baby in the hospital after the mom has been released. Praying that all continues to go well.
I love the scripture verse that you quoted...Proverbs 16:9. What a comfort to know that HE directs our steps. We don't do such a great job ourselves, but His ways are perfect.

  8. Glad to hear Silas is doing better. Almost all our babies had to sit in the lights. Breastfeeding makes it worse too.

  9. Morning Rebecca,
So glad to hear lil Silas is coming home today. I am surprised they didn't just give him a billirubin light at home. I remember my friend having one of her baby and he reminding us of a lil glow worm!
Maybe Silas's count was just too high. Anyway so glad the lil cutie is better and going home. Hope your daughter is doing well too.

Yes, it is a wonderful thing that the Lord directs are steps and yes,
circumscribes our steps.........always makes me wonder now when things
don't go like I expect, what is He sparing me from, or why am I to be
home this day or what does he want to teach me! or maybe He just knows we need some rest or down time to spend with him.
He is definitely our All Knowing Father, who cares for us!

Love the saying on that plaque about the Home Blessing!
Wrote it down and think I will make a sign on print shop to frame and
    put somewhere in my home.

oh yea, and Congratulations on your 11th Grandchild lil Silas. He is so cute............know you are gonna have many wonderful and fun years with him...............

Have missed you lately, hope all is well.
    Blessings, nellie

  10. I was WONDERING about the new little guy! What a blessing we have these tests today and often know what to do for any inconsistencies. All 3 of Joanna's kids had the high count and within days it came to normal with the lights. Glad to hear Silas was released to go back home. (LOVE his name!!)

  11. Praying for the little sweetie. No matter how many others have had to go through it, it's totally different when it's YOUR baby.

  12. I have been circumscribed lately by a tooth that needs to be pulled. I am in great pain and it makes me sad..........I don't feel like braving the heat to look over my gardens,,,,and I certainly cannot bend over to pull weeds. BUT, I am still busy. I can sit on the couch and crochet rag rugs. That doesn't take much effort. I watch Roy Rogers with Lydia, so all is not lost!

  13. Oh, I pray your little darling will be healthy soon! Our youngest one was born five weeks early and spent 11 days in NICU. God certainly grew our faith and proved Himself to be so faithful yet again.
