Life is Beautiful

"Circle of Friends" in our back yard
Monday morning reflections:
  • What a pleasant brunch at church yesterday!  (Sure wish more people had turned out.)
  • A walk around the block last night ended up being a convergence of friends at a lazy intersection. Small town living at its best!
  • Grandchildren coming later this week means crowding normal Thursday-Tuesday stuff into Monday-Wednesday to be free to enjoy the children.
  • Our Friday Ladies' Home Connection is such a blessing!
  • With hubby gone overnight tonight, the next 36 hours are a blank slate (except for giving a piano lesson this afternoon).  I plan to - and NEED to - use the time wisely. Rick Warren tweeted this morning, "Waiting until you FEEL like doing something may be the most common mistake you make."  Does he have a hidden camera in my house or WHAT?!?
  • I'm thankful for an hour or so at Barnes and Noble over the weekend to catch up on magazine reading.  (I didn't actually get caught up, but it sure was pleasurable.)
  • Friday night we saw a high school production of The King and I.  VERY well done, I thought.
  • It was good to celebrate friends' anniversary with late lunch at The Factory.  The company of friends AND salmon salad were a great combination!
  • I'm (slowly) making progress in my weight loss.  The grace and power of God are very real to me in this process.
  • Lawn chairs and yard art are distributed for spring/summer.  All our newly configured "Circle of Friends" needs is bodies!

  1. Just so enjoyed this list...and yes that is one of the best things about small towns, everyone comes out in the streets when the weather is great...watching my time also...good reminder

Enjoy the grandchildren..what an inheritance from the Lord

  2. What an enjoyable post for a Monday morning! I've never met you face to face but yet I can see your smile and the light in your eyes as you talk about your blessings. You are definitely a good writer; your words paint a lifelike picture.

  4. Your table was a good addition to the circle of friends (love the name you gave it) and I am sure the grands will have a good time there. I am encouraged with your weight loss as I am myself giving it a try. :)

  5. Hi Rebecca,
Sounds like you have a lot of fun things you are doing or that are coming this week. Yea, procrastination............it gets all of us, I am trying to embark on something I read on a blog. Flylady.net, I think it is, it is about cleaning and organizing. Anywho, she said to spend just 15 mins.
a day decluttering. So I plan to start working on paperwork that is stashed in my walk-in closet, as I am sick of it taking up room in there.

Oh and you asked about the breathing, it is a physiological thing, and
I am a shallow breather, have been all my life, and guess any stress goes to my back, course, he says it really affects your whole body.
altho, I feel more peaceful than I ever have in my life, I must have some stress that I am not even aware of or else it wouldn't be working,
he is a christian Dr. too, so I think he is praying too. Anyway tomorrow will be a week, and my back is feeling so much better, I have awakened with a back ache a few
times but once I start the breathing it usually goes away pretty quickly. So we are in amazement. The Dr. told me to get this lil gadget that is like a pager that goes off every 10 mins then resets
itself. I got it last Thurs, and I wear it and when it vibrates I know it is time to take a
few slow deep breathes. Love the gadget cause I don't have to reset
it or listening to the beep beep beeping of my timer!! lol
and the breathing is getting easier, and even when I don't have the
timer on like when I am sleeping when I wake up I feel myself needing a deep breath so it is becoming more natural.

I too, am trying to take off a few pds., but what I normally do doesn't
seem to be working........... (I usually just start eating more
fruits and veggies)............so not real happy about that..........
but guess I will keep plugging away and praying something happens.

    Have a great week hon,
    Love and Blessings, Nellie

and I will try to post a pic of my blouse this week.
Definitely a different color for me.!! but fun!!

  7. You sure have been busy Rebecca! And what a good variety of activities. I look forward to seeing how much the grandchildren have grown!!
I've been working, working and working some more. Got way behind on the yard last fall. But we've put a good dent in it this past week. I worked for six hours out there today. I found some more Poison Ivy but this time I SAW it first and really sprayed it good!! I am hoping to post some photos soon. Have fun with those grands, Hugs... Love Di ♥

  8. I stop in, read your bullet-ed comments and slowly sigh. I so love stopping in and getting a fresh perspective Rebecca!

ps - I received a handmade banner this 'Emmaus' weekend with 2 Peter 1:3 stitched on it. Sane, Simply and Sacred - indeed!

  9. I love to see a circle of chairs for friends!
That *feel like it* thought, got me. I feel like doing plenty.....but it doesn't get much done. I always feel like going to thrift stores, eating a donut or pinning.....I hardly ever *feel* like giving Bunny a bath, sweeping June-bugs, or cleaning the coffee pot.
