Between the Covers

So frequently, I think to myself, "I wish I would have written that!"
Such was the case when I read Running Away

"We get tired of...sick of ...We seek a haven..
...it’s the mess that drives us to it.
...running from and running to...
Some individuals run more easily than others...
...options – a middle ground to establish...far from abandonment of adult accountability...closer to a simpler way to live."
And the final observation?  "As for that straw that breaks the camel’s back – maybe it’s only a strain and not a break. More of a strain on some days than others, and a reminder to rest, rather than run."
So much more between these lines!
Feelings MOST of us have experienced
at one time or another...

If I HAD written it, I would have had to add
from The Word--God's Word:
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. (Psalm 18:2)
But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.  (Psalm 94:22)
...and SO much more between its "covers"!

    1. Having just experienced Sabbath (rest), this phrase REALLY was meaningful to me, too, Glenda!

  2. Just this morning I read from "Streams" wishing I had written this:

"The morning is a critically important time of day. You must never face the day until you have faced God, nor look into the face of others until you have looked into His. You cannot expect to be victorious, if you begin your day in your own strength alone."

Good words, convicting ones as well. I love a good "write." You're right, so much to read in between and all around the lines.

Have a wonderful weekend in Jesus.

    1. "Bending" and "breaking" -- quite another picturesque way to convey a similar message...

  4. Well, I'm seeking a haven right now. I just read something so insane about AFTER-birth abortion. It's making me feel like ~ "STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF!" Seriously, if things keep going the way they are going, there's no hope for us. I can't believe that God hasn't washed His Hands of us already. Man is sickening.

  5. Yes, we may try to seek that temporary haven when troubles rise upon us. However, it's very fleeing, and doesn't last. It's something I'm slowly learning myself. Learning to trust God in everything is difficult, yet I find when I do, I'm not disappointed. If only I could be more consistent.

    Love your blog!

  6. Morning Rebecca,
So good to hear from you hon. Glad to hear you had a lovely respite and getaway. That is always a good thing for us..........isn't it! Just such a refreshment for the spirit. Hope you had a good time with your brother and sister-in-law. Always fun to have a visit with those you love no matter how short or long...........
Did you get your car back from the shop yet?? Hope it was a wee bill!! lol
Sometimes yes, and sometimes No.........hope it was yes for you this time.

I liked how you ended the story above, it is true we all get weary in well doing at times, but then where else is there to run to that would
be any better...............absolutely NO WHERE, but to the LORD, He truly has the market cornered! He truly is the shelter in time of storm
and trouble, Thanks be to His precious Name!!

and Thanks for all your well wishes for me and my family, it always blesses and touches my heart to know that someone is happy for me.
    Your a blessing hon.

    Have a great weekend
    Love and Blessings, Nellie

  7. I was able to "run away" for a bit this week. My favorite hymn is "Oh then to the Rock let me fly. To the Rock that is higher than I." Oh, how I love that Rock! The Scripture you chose is perfect. He is MY Rock!
