When I ... Pray

♫ Somehow the Savior seems a little nearer when I kneel down to pray,
And fellowship with Him a little dearer, when I kneel down to pray.

A secret place of quiet meditation when I kneel down to pray
Increases all the joy of that relation when I kneel down to pray.

I tarry there with Christ a little longer when I kneel down to pray,
and rise to face the world a little stronger, when I kneel down to pray.

Chorus
I know that He will always hear me, for He is never far away.
And yet He seems a little closer to me when I kneel down to pray. ♫
(From an old gospel song)
Were it not for prayer, I would be a Basket Case!
The state of our country and the world,
my burden for my church,
the needs of my friends,
and my own inadequacies are too much to deal with on my own!
These signs seen on our recent visit to the Holy Land Experience
are my "prayer calls".
They remind me of the needless pain I bear when  I
"do not carry EVERYTHING to God in prayer."
(from What a Friend We Have in Jesus)

  3. Oh, YES, Rebecca, I feel the same way! It is prayer that keeps one foot in front of the other, it is prayer that motivates, and it is prayer that gives me the incentive to look forward, to hope for good. I agree with everything you said here. And in times of turmoil, it is prayer that gives me confidence that God Is in control.
So many times lately I find myself praying, "God THY Will Be Done", and I just remind myself that man's ways are NOT God's Way, and I remind myself that what man means for evil for us God Means for Good, and I put my trust in Him.
    Another beautiful post, Rebecca.
    Love and Prayers,
    Eileen
PS ~ Thank you for your kind words. Things are in turmoil here, but I'm divorcing myself from the situation and letting God take control.

Yes, where would we be without prayer, our lifeline to our God?

  6. This is one hymn I've never heard. The lyrics are beautiful. What would it be like to not be able to talk to God? The flu bug hit me yesterday so I had prayer time during the long hours in the night. I was so thankful for God's nearness.

  8. I need those signs posted throughout my house sometimes. Not that I don't know it. I'm wonderfully familiar with Acts and we've been the home of Monday night prayer meeting for about 8 years now. I've experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and the answers to our petitions. So why then, do I sometimes need to be reminded to do what should be the easy thing? Lay it all down in prayer and trust my Abba...

You're always a good reminder. Thanks Rebecca.

    Blessings, Debbie
