The Littlest of Things

No harm in celebrating the littlest of things while dreaming of and investing in the biggest of things. Enjoy the day!
 (a recent Louie Giglio tweet)
I decided to do just that.  Here are a few of the "little things" I'm celebrating...
  • Figured out how to eliminate word verification on this blog!
  • Finding little things left out or left behind following our grandchildren's visit with us over the weekend.
  • Watching episodes of Downton Abbey last night.
  • Two complete weeks of consistently clean countertops and kitchen sink.  (Shocking, I know!)
  • About the same length of disciplined eating habits.  (Feels great!)
  • Sunshine this morning.
  • An short, unexpected drop-in visit from friends yesterday.
  • The past four or five entries in My Utmost for His Highest--so timely for me.
  • Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.

  1. Sweet post! And sweet reminder to me to appreciate and celebrate all my little Blessings!
I HOPE I have figured out how to eliminate the word verification (I did it on my own late last night, so I'm not sure if I was successful).

And two weeks of clean countertops and kitchen sink! Good for you! That is something I must strive for along with clearing the dining table of paperwork, crayons, coloring books, and homework assignments! AND try to keep the living room as clutter-free as possible (even though we expanded it is SO crowded with playpen, baby chair, and jumperoo, among toys and bins!).

    Nice post!
    Love and Prayers,
    Eileen

  2. Oh those are great...discipline with eating and cleaning, that is where God has me...and yes, on the devotionals from Utmost for His Highest, they are hitting the mark here also.
What a precious gift, picking up after grand kids have visited.

  4. So thankful for the little things in life, Rebecca.
I began thinking... Sometimes the "little" things in life can be very painful. Knowing that our God has all of them in control, little and big to us, is more than a comfort to me. Love you, my friend...

    1. Ahhhhh. I love you, too, Jackie. And I think you're right. Little things CAN be painful as surely as little things can bring great happiness! And God IS in control of little & big things.

  5. It's all of the little things that are making me sleepy! Or is it my recovery? The latter I think.
That new word verification is awful isn't it? I just don't know if I want to take it off. Love Di ♥

  7. Love your list and I too, like to watch Downton Abbey! (Dennis just rolls his eyes...)

Asking for special prayer for our four year old Grandson, Zachary. He was hit by a car Sunday afternoon and sent by air to University Medical Center in Tucson AZ. He has a broken right leg, surgery and now a metal rod in his leg. This Ga'Ma's heart is heavy - grateful, but I would take his pain in a heartbeat!

    1. I prayed and will continue to pray, Tamara. SO thankful it was limited to the leg. Praying for no infection to set in, for normal growth in that leg, for pain to be minimal, and continued wisdom & attention on the part of doctors.

  8. This sounds like my gratitude journal, Rebecca. Do you have one, or have you ever thought about it? Just jotting it down, big and small, makes a big difference in the heart.

    Happy Tuesday!

    1. Rhonda - for years and years and years (long before it was "fashionable"), I've listed 5 things I'm thankful for in my daily journal. Most of the time, the list stay in my journal, between the Heavenly Father and me. :)

  9. I'm learning to be more aware of God's gifts. I think it takes practice and intention. The little moments are the stuff our days are made of!

  10. I think it's a big thing that we are appreciating the little things! Love your list, not so different from my own. Also... the blog before this, I am so glad you did away with that word thing. I can barely make out the letters anymore since they changed it. What a nuisance! :)

  11. We kept the two grand-daughters here for about a week while their mama had another girl.....I am still finding play dishes under the furniture. Things are so different in the house when they are here.
