Talent Galore!

Yesterday, all the Sunday school classes in our small church began with a few minutes
of cutting out bells, stars, bulbs or Christmas tree shapes from old Christmas cards.
These will be used in decorating our church later this week..
Most of us traced our shapes from cookie-cutter patterns.
This free-form cutout was my favorite--for its originality, the skillful cutting,
and selection of background pattern and color.
(Note to self:  Next time, cut out front and back together with cards'
images showing on both sides. These could be glued together, laminated or not, and hung.)
This is the guy who did it!
I would never have guessed he had this talent.
It makes me excited to discover what additional abilities and gifts reside
in my "brothers and sisters" in Christ!
Writing about the unique gifts God has given every person in the church,
the Apostle Paul compared them to body parts - each with special functions...

God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.  If they were all one part, where would the body be?  As it is, there are many parts, but one body.  The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!"  And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"...  God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.  If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it,
(I Corinthians 12:8-27)

  3. Your church fellowship is so precious and so uncommon these days in our rushed world.

Yes, we need all the parts of the body...the head is seen a lot, but how could it look around without the neck?

  7. What fun to discover an unexpected talent in someone else. I'm sure you let him know and affirmed him in that.

Makes me wonder how many times I misjudge or fail to see the hidden gifts in others.

  8. One of my favorite things (I've discovered about myself) is the real joy and excitement I experience when I watch someone living out their unique giftings. I agree, it's a treasure to uncover!

What always inspires me is watching folks walk in their gifts and spreading it out for others to enjoy, whether it's through art, music, words, baking, cutting out a train..... it makes me happy inside!

    I'm glad you shared...........
