Above and Beyond

The stack may not look so big compared to what some churches have collected,
but to me, this is a miracle.  I really didn't think our goal was realistic.
It represents almost 1 shoebox for every 2 people who attend our church (children included)!
Several in our small congregation are currently unemployed...
but not only was the goal met, it was surpassed!
Operation Christmas Child is a project that will place gifts into the hands of children
who may not receive another gift at Christmas-time.  These gifts will be accompanied by a gospel message and a link to Christians in their communities.
What did I learn as gifts were collected in our church?
  • My faith is too small
  • God WILL supply all our needs
  • Little is much when God is in it
  • Think bigger
  • Expect more
  • Give a little bit more than seems feasible
  • I belong to an incredible community of faith, locally and world-wide
  • and SO much more!
"And God will generously provide all you need.
Then you will always have everything you need
and plenty left over to share with others."  (2 Corinthians 9:8)

  1. How wonderful dear Rebecca, all good deeds are great for people in need and specially in this BAD economy and with Christmas almost here. Yesterday Sunday we had our anual food festival. This festival is to collect funds for the Cancer hospital for the very poor and there are stands for each country's cuisine and you can buy the food, take it home or eat there. I'm invloved in the American food stand and we sell $1,000s and it's great. We bake lots for free, I'm only sorry I forgot to take my camera!...next year. Thanks for your lovely visit and sweet comments.
    Have a blessed week. FABBY

  3. I love this ministry, and we had so much fun filling our box for a little girl. We even went online to Samaritans Purse and gave there, so we could track what country our box is going to. I'm so excited!

  6. This is just beautiful, Rebecca. Doesn't it lift your heart to see how God's people respond. I know you must be so encouraged.

I love the scriptures, and the thoughts. It's true, we expect too little sometimes, so it is always a good lesson for us to see the cups running over! :)

  8. Thanks for the reminder that Christmas is really more about giving to those who need than in getting more for ourselves we don't need. My husband and I give to an organization in our community that provides food and toys for families, Lifesource International. That's what Christmas is all about.

  9. This is such a wonderful ministry! Our church participated in it this year as well. Recently, I've just been struck by the thought that we cannot even comprehend how BIG our God is, and our faith and expectations really fall short of what He wants to do for us. Donna
