Still Here and Context Matters

Will it be ANYTHING like this????
In our glee about being "right" this morning,
let's be careful about our use of one verse in Matthew 24
and lumping all the end time events together.
Depending on your interpretation,
the events of that chapter could happen over a period of several years,
and there are several OTHER passages in the Bible
that address those events.
Additionally, there is much that is unknown to mankind.
Let's not be as uninformed and/or ignorant as those some are ridiculing today.
Context matters, and love is never puffed up.
What I DO know is this:
Jesus IS coming again, and...
God is patient toward (us) not wishing that any should perish,
but that all should reach repentance...
Therefore, beloved, since (we) are waiting for these (end time events),
be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.
(from 2 Peter 3, another chapter full of "end time" stuff)

  3. Amen, and hooray!!

The thing about our most recent volley from the Prophets of Doom that disturbs me is this: They make a mockery of God's word and put Christianity in a "fringe" light - as if we believers were as whacko as extremist Muslims.

The other thing I know is that it is the love of God that leads men to repentance (Romans 2:1-4), not fear-mongering. Tough truths can be spelled out without hype.

So today I'm delighted that we're still here living out the lavish love & abundant life He's given - looking up as His return draws near; and going out because the harvest is ripe.

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  5. I appreciate your thoughts; our pastor this morning said pretty much the same thing--the one thing we do know is that He is coming again.

I agree with Sassy granny--It makes me sad, because people like this put true christianity in a bad light.

  8. Morning Rebecca,
Loved your post. and as you can see I am still here too!! lol

I have been thinking about this wrong prediction and so many have seen the negative side of it, but something struck me, and I believe this could be part of the reason God allowed this!! Think about it....I never heard of the rapture until I was almost 19 years old, even tho I was
a christian (a very very unknowlegeable one, and
I think there are many out their who have never heard of such a thing, but now, it will cause them to think, and when it does occur and it will someday, just as you say.....when the christians are gone, prebelievers will think
you know... so and so was a christian and their gone, and my hairdresser is a christian and she's gone, and my grandmother who used to take me to church all the time, she's gone, there has to be something to this!! Don't you think???

I am with Jacquelyn.....may the Lord come soon!

    Blessings for a sweet day,
    Nellie
