From my kitchen window, I can see the color on our ancient lilac bush.
A little closer, I see the clusters in more detail...
Can you see the SINGLE bud that has blossomed in the middle of this picture?
Soon the entire cluster will open, and with its opening,
the GLORIOUS scent I am so eager for!
Meanwhile, the single bud is a "foretaste"of the scent and sight to come.
It reminds me of I John 3:2-3 that speaks of the GLORIOUS day
when OUR entire "clusters" will burst open and
we will enjoy the ultimate revealing of all God intended for us when He created us.
"Dear friends, now we are children of God,
and what we will be has not yet been made known.
But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure."
BLESSED ASSURANCE! Jesus is mine.
Oh what a FORETASTE of glory divine!
Oh what a FORETASTE of glory divine!
Yes, Yes, Yes...Oh what a foretaste of what He has for us...I love the lilac and can almost smell it, but how much more He has in store for us who call Him Lord.
ReplyDeleteSweet assurance . . . blessed assurance! One of my favorite hymns, which we still sing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post...it will be a glorious day!

Rebecca, what beautiful pictures these are! I especially loved that single bloom which you described as a foretaste of what is to come!
ReplyDeleteThe hymn you mentioned, Blessed Assurance, is one of my favorites!
I scrolled down to read a few more posts. I can see you will be busy welcoming spring into your life.

What a wonderful example of that foretaste of glory divine!
I just talked to my mom about the lilac bushes in the little dirt road town they live in. Even though this might sound sappy..........you really can put lilacs against your face and feel their coolness, you can *feel* the green and purple! I think that's what I miss most about not living in my home-town....small as it was! My sister and I would wait for the school bus in front of Loretta's bushes and shake dew off of them. Spring comes early where we live now.....so it's strange to hear of other *blooming* stories!
