My American Idol Enthusiasm

I'm a little embarrassed about my American Idol enthusiasm.  Normally, I don't watch a lot of TV.  Don't even remember how/when I watched my first American Idol show this year....but I haven't missed too many shows since then.  I try to control my urge to comment on every facebook entry about the show.  But this morning I gave in to the urge and said,

I think it's pretty neat how Scotty has won the respect of the judges.
Respect because (in addition to his talent) he has principles and values
and isn't embarrassed about saying so.
He does it in a non-judgmental way.
What a fine example for *Christians of ALL ages. PEOPLE of all ages!
Scotty's in it to WIN!
(That last phrase appears to be Randy's favorite comment.)

Having said all that, I have been impressed with Haley's style & talent.  She's quite unique -- almost a Barbra Striesand type.  I hope it's she (or should it be "her"?) and Scotty on stage at the end. And I won't be watching.  I couldn't handle the suspense.

*Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds
and praise your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers
in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity  (I Timothy 4:12).

  1. I have only watched it a couple of times...I did see the yahoo tape of Scotty's homecoming and the country star meeting him on stage. Scotty talked about the singer and his Christian influence in the country music arena.

I was blessed by them letting his Dad sing last night...I thought that was priceless.

No matter who wins he will have a singing contract and that is a huge responsibility at age 17...so prayers needed to be prayed for him to continue to walk so mightily before God and allow him to continue to be a positive influence.

  3. He's such an impressive young man. Talent and manners all in one, a child of God, and proud of it.
I sent him my vote last night, he surely is a fine young man.

  7. I've been following it for the last few months. The talent has been exceptional this year. I"m hoping for a Scott/Lauren match-up at the end. That finale will be exciting. No matter what happens, they'll go on to have good careers. That I"m very confident about :) :)

I also like the new judges. That makes the show much nicer to watch now too : :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  8. Love Scotty but also love Lauren and it won't bother me if either one wins, I find Lauren reminds me of Carrie Underwood, xo

  9. I have no problem with Lauren....Prefer Scotty. But as I said, I probably won't be able to watch. (Don't know why I can't handle suspense better....)

  10. Hi Again,
Just left a comment on your last post before this one in case you are wondering by it is Hi again!! lol

Thanks for coming over yesterday and for that nice virtual hugs and prayers and well wishes on all the job interviews....we can't help but think the Lord must be gonna do something soon.
but if not, it is sure keeping us encouraged.

I watched American idol that one time because of that rough looking fellow you talked about, and I have to agree with you, he really is so encouraging to people. How refreshing!! Shows you can't always judge a book by it's cover!!

I need to look up the day and time so we can
watch it again, cause we really did enjoy it.

Well, have a really Fun Friday,
    Love and Blessings, Nellie

  11. I have issues with the word "idol" in conjunction with a person. I prefer Britain's show title, "Britain's Got Talent."
