You Can Run, but You Can't Hide!

Several times during our visit, Elijah would come into the guest room where we were staying, turn the corner, and "park" under this table.  There he would sit with a big grin on his face (apparently hiding) waiting for us to "find" him.  It was so much fun.  I never had my camera when he was there alone and grinning.  THIS time, his big sister went under the table to coax him out...

It reminded me of the impossibility of trying to hide from God...No matter how grown up our schemes seem to us, to Him they are as simple (and silly) as Elijah's attempts to hide from us!  The Psalmist David, in the 139th Psalm writes of the impossibility of hiding from God.  Regarding the third verse, the great preacher, Charles Spurgeon writes:

Thou art familiar with all I do; nothing is concealed from thee, nor surprising to thee, nor misunderstood by thee. Our paths may be habitual or accidental, open or secret, but with them all the Most Holy One is well acquainted. This should fill us with awe, so that we sin not; with courage, so that we fear not; with delight, so that we mourn not.

Take out the thees and thous if you must, but rejoice in the fact that nothing is concealed, surprising or misunderstood by our God!   Let us be filled with awe, courage, and delight--innocently, like our little Elijah, reveling in the sure and certain love of our Heavenly Father.
Sin not...Fear not..Mourn not

  2. Hi Rebecca,
Had to go back and catch up on some of your posts.
All great posts about your grandchildren, they are all so cute.
Yes, it is a great thing that God knows everything there is to know about us and everything else.
What a comfort that is when you don't understand the way something is happening....he knows what is up ahead we don't!!
Your new blog background is pretty. I think I am gonna change mine again soon, cause I saw some really pretty Easter ones. So I will see!
Thanks for all your sweet well wishes for me on my birthday, it is a joy to have others be happy for you when something good happens, cause that is not always the case!! But I think it should be as far as the Lord is concerned!!
I appreciate you hon, you are a blessing to me,
Love and Blessings galore to you,

  3. Hi Rebecca! Thanks for coming by to see me this week. You asked about the bottle tree. I received all the bottles as gifts. I had found several in clear, green and brown, but let it be known that I wanted blue. As I received a blue one, I'd remove one of the other colors. Just a couple of weeks ago, my nephew from SC brought me the last one I needed. I just stuck it on. (gotta go back and take a couple of labels off.) The two books I'm reading were brought to me by my daughter who got them from thrift stores. "Ouch !!! Life Hurts...But God Is Good" by Tina Haning and "Salt O' Life" by Howard Murry. I'm enjoying reading your blogs.
