It's Snowing Again

I once read in a poem
That when snow covers the earth
That it hides the world’s scars
And gives nature new birth;
And they say when a
Man turns from sin to the Lord
That forgiveness like snow
Cover him evermore.
And somewhere it’s snowing.
See the soft drifting down
As snowflakes surrender
To the hardening ground.
Like the good grace of Jesus
That now covers our sin,
In the kingdom of heaven
It’s snowing again.
And i's told that the angels
Lift their hearts and rejoice
When one traveler turns homeward
On his way to the Lord.
If somewhere someone’s turning
And he’s giving his all,
Then God’s grace
Like the snow
Is beginning to fall...
And somewhere it’s snowing.
See the soft drifting down
As snowflakes surrender
To the hardening ground.
Like the good grace of Jesus
That now covers our sin,
In the kingdom of heaven
It’s snowing again.
Years ago, I sang this song as a "special" in church.  I did my best to recall the words to
Somewhere It's Snowing.

(All photos are looking out our windows this morning!  We've had a lot of snow this winter,
but this is the first time these windows were covered like this.
It is just beautiful.  It was hard to wait for enough light to take the pictures.)
If you didn't read yesterday's post about Sanctuary Farm,
I invite you to scroll down to see it!
It was such a delight to be there.

  1. It is just beautiful...we had 80 degrees yesterday and will probably be in the 70's today...what a creative God to have so many types of weather at the same time on this planet.
    The poem is wonderful

  2. snowing here again also. While the yard is all white lace and pretty from this side of the window, I tire of this scene. I am grateful that God has given us seasons and new artwork daily. Trusting in His timing and anxiosly awaiting His spring line of artwork!!

  3. What beautiful photos! I love snow. It just makes me smile. I know many others get tired of it and it makes many peoples lives more difficult, but there is just something about it that draws me closer to the heart of GOD.

Today, we are experiencing "heavy" rain and very strong winds. I am praying for all out in any of these elements.

Blessed to have stopped by here, today!

  4. You SING too? You are amazing. That last photo is particularly "magical" looking...was the sun coming up to give the colorful highlights?

  5. Rebecca,
Did you get a comment from me just before this one, cause just as I was clicking off it popped up
and I saw it so thought it maybe didn't post.
    Let me know, Thanks,
    blessings, Nellie

  7. Jacquelyn, These were taken at just about the "first light". It just got progressively brighter. Still no sunshine/blue sky, but brighter....It was SO unusual to have it on our screens on opposite sides of the house.

  8. We got it too, probably about three inches. Our trees had a nice frosting too.

  10. Brrrr! We've had an extended Winter here, too (near Seattle). Temps have dipped into the 20s, and for us that's rare.

I love the scenes from your snowy wonderland. I can't help but think of Norman Rockwell, fireside tales, cocoa, and giggly little ones eager to make a snowman.

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  11. I love all the seasons, beauty in each one.
I love these pictures because I still get
excited each time it snows. We are having
warm weather right now but I'm sure it won't
last. We will probably have a bit more snow
before long. I do get anxious for Spring
though when I see the daffodils springing
up in the yard. Right now we have many!

  12. I loved the lyrics Rebecca and you are right, the snow looks beautiful on the windows.
It has been a long winter. Maybe God is giving us extra time to make peace with ourselves so that we can enjoy the rebirth that springtime brings! Love Di ♥

  14. Hi Rebecca... such a wonderful and very sweet way to think of the snow.
I am ready to finish up on our wintry weather...but this puts it in beautiful perspective ... thank you !

  15. I have never heard of the song/poem you posted... and as I was reading the words, it made me misty eyed. So beautiful, so meaningful, so soft, and gentle.

And the pictures you took and shared with us were just amazing. I have seen snow only once before in my whole life - and that was in Switzerland many years ago... it doesn't snow here where I live.

"Gentle love" - that's what I like to use...in describing what I feel now as I have just read your post.

I also scrolled down to your previous post about Sanctuary Farm... Like you, I have a special place in my heart for the disciplines. RIchard Foster's books including the one you mentioned are among my favorite reads.

I so appreciate you, Rebecca... and really enjoyed having spent some time here this evening.

    Love
    Lidj
