Sleep, Sweet Sleep

Emma's first nap with her baby in her very own big girl bed!

This photo of our youngest granddaughter arrived this afternoon via cell phone.
The timing couldn't have been better.
I had a rare, restless night last night. I had a lot on my mind.
(Thankfully, I had time for my OWN Sunday afternoon nap today.)
I look forward to a good night of sleep tonight.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.  (Psalm 4:8)
***
Ere thou sleepest, gently lay
Every troubled thought away;
Put off worry and distress
As thou puttest off thy dress.
Drop thy burden and thy care
In the quiet arms of prayer....

and AFTER a good night of sleep...)

  1. The picture is sweet Rebecca. They grow so fast!
I have had nights like that too. But even when I sleep good, I sure do enjoy a nice afternoon nap. For some reason, the Sunday naps are the best!
    Love Di ♥

  5. What a precious photo of your granddaughter with the cute pink blanket :) :) :) You matched that really nicely to the Bible verse, too!!! Have a good week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  6. Heather, I "know" that Bible verse....for some reason, I just tossed and turned and FORGOT the truth of it last night.

  8. I sure would like to sleep like that again. Sometimes it seems like the days are shorter and the nights are longer. I also love my Sunday after noon naps.

  9. What is it they say about a picture being worth a thousand words. Hopefully it's worth a thousand sleeps too.

Why is it the mind likes to remain awake and work when the body so wants to sleep? I remember hearing someone say, under similar circumstance, they finally heard a word from the Lord that went something like this: "Child, you get some sleep and I'll stay up all night to do the worrying."

I try to remember that when sleep eludes me.

    Sweet picture. Sweeter thoughts.

  10. Granny, Thanks for reminding me about that "word". I really don't usually have trouble sleeping. I don't plan to make a habit of it either!

  11. Such a sweet picture! Little Angel!

So sorry you've been having sleep problems, I can well commiserate! There's no rhyme or reason to it for me, it can be 'worries' that keep me up (that horrible anxious feeling, and then feeling more anxious for not trusting in the Lord about it all), or even thinking about nice or happy exciting things that I'm looking forward to will keep me from sleep! Crazy.

Anyway, I'm so glad I can access your blog through Facebook! I'm still having Blogger issues, but I think I've found that the problem is adding pictures! I think if I do just a picture post with no captions added it's okay, and if I do just a 'word' post with no pictures it will post okay.
I'm busy this week but I'm going to try next week and see if that works for me.

I'm missing everyone in blog land. I get to see bits and pieces sometimes on Facebook but it's not the same.

    Sweet Dreams, Sweet Rebecca!

  15. I love children and Emma is
    certainly a beautiful little
    girl.
So many take the gift and
    blessing of sleep for granted.
    I don't and I'm glad you got
    back on track with yours.

  16. How precious! I love the name Emma! I just suggested it to my daughter-in-law as she is looking for another "E" name for the one-on-the-way!
