After dinner, we took our three grandchildren across the street and up a block to the Harlan Days Fair. We had purchased a few early tickets for the rides, so the children enjoyed surveying all of them and deciding which they'd like to ride on.
At each ride, there was a measuring stick to determine whether or not the child was tall enough to ride that particular one. Sometimes the result was disappointment. Other times, excitement and expectation and a big thrill!
Brother and sister both rode this one. The swings flew quite high once the ride started twirling! The second one they chose was even MORE adventuresome!
Our daughter got to ride along with the youngest on the merry-go-round...always a treat no matter WHAT your age.
Meeting the measuring stick at each ride, I was reminded of the "measure" I am still growing to reach -- the fullness of God! Ephesians 3:19 "...that you may be filled to the MEASURE of all the fullness of God". And 4:13 "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole MEASURE of the fullness of Christ"!
Thank God for Ephesians 3:20-21! "Now to him who is able to do IMMEASURABLY more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
His Measure. His Power. His glory. ALL generations. Forever.
What adorable pictures! I wish I was in Harlan! How fun that your daughter and some of your grands got to come for the festivities. How far away do they live? Oh grandma, ENJOY! I know you are!!!
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot...those are great bible verses...and just so no one gets the wrong idea...it's not that we have to "measure up"...but they speak of the full measure of God and how we grow to become more like Him as we become more filled with Him.
ReplyDeleteAww...this was a lovely post. Your grandkids are adorable and it looks like they had lots of fun.I love you tied that together with Scripture at the end. It's a good reminder!!! Have a lovely weekend. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Jacquelyn! Thus the last verse! God in US, filling us and growing us up. His power. His "DO-ing", not ours.
ReplyDeleteLove the happy smiles :)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your grandchildren having so much fun. Enjoy their visit my friend, they are so precious......:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful He's still growing me! I'm reminded of the children's song: "He's stil working on me - to make me what I ought to be . . . "
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time you all had. I love the scripture too. I'm also a work of His, daily growing (hopefully) in His grace and mercy.
