We Planted Bottles Yesterday

It's true! Came home from an inspiring morning of Garden Walking in Auburn IN and got to work on our OWN yard. Our bottle tree is no more. I have plans to replace it, but meanwhile, the bottles needed a place to go, so we planted them in the rock border surrounding one of our beds.

As I was "planting" them, the verses from Galatians 6 kept coming to my mind. "A man reaps what he sows." In this case, I'm not expecting a crop of bottles.

But I would be living under deception if I thought there would not be outcomes or consequences to my thoughts and actions! Sometimes there is a delay in outcomes (or consequences) and it is easy to think we "got away" with a negative action or thought OR that a harvest of good will NEVER come though we have "done good"....

But here is the truth - straight from God's heart to my eyes: "Be not deceived: God cannot be mocked...a man who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up"

It also comes to my mind that we can even sow in the wind, yet we reap a whirlwind.

I do like the way the bottles look in the border. What happened to your bottle tree? I have always wanted one. There is a house close by that has one with all blue bottles and it is just beautiful! Only problem is blue bottles hold white wine and I don't like white wine! I understand that blue bottles are hard to come by.
I enjoyed the verse at the end of your post Rebecca. It very much reminded me of something that I read in John the night before last but I can't remember it offhand. Not surprising!

I must linger on this verse today... God has used it this morning to prick my heart in regards to a recent sin.

I don't want to sow to please the sinful nature, but sometimes, I cast my sacred "want" to the side in favor of a selfish bent. God help me. God forgive me... again.
