Living With Change

For various reasons, grass wasn't growing well here.  Yesterday I decided a change was in order and transplanted the fern and hosta to fill in the space.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.  ~Victor Frankl
We changed the look of the shed by adding these shutters!

You can avoid having ulcers by adapting to the situation:  If you fall in the mud puddle, check your pockets for fish.  ~Author Unknown
I bought this dollhouse for about a dollar and a half in a thrift store in Chicago while visiting my daughter earlier this week.  My husband is graciously changing its appearance via a paint job!

Things alter for the worse spontaneously, if they be not altered for the better designedly.  ~Francis Bacon

These changes were deliberate and self-initiated.  Others?  Not so much!  My husband's salary has changed.  Both of our mothers are experiencing challenging health changes.  We will be on-the-road the next four days visiting them and "hearing" doctors with them.   It is reassuring that though everything around us is changing (and some of it very, very fast), there  is ONE who NEVER changes!

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress,
I will never be shaken. (Psalm 62:1-2)

  1. Something I have been working on lately, so thanks for the post ! I always try to change people , instead of using prayer power more and backing off for God to get working. Changing our reactions is a VERY hard task as well!! Gina

  6. So sorry to hear about your mother's Rebecca. I will send a prayer yours and Gary's way.
I do love your new shudders. And I too plant Hostas and ferns in the shaded areas. They cover so well. I have several varieties of Hostas. I think they are gorgeous and some of them are huge!

  8. You are one creative lady!

I never had a dollhouse as a child, but I'm thinking I'd love to have one now. Grandmas can play with dollhouses, can't they?

    Blessings,

  10. Hi Rebecca ~ I so agree with change... it's always happening somewhere in our lives.

We dealt with health issues with both our mother's years ago... It's hard. That cycle of life when they cared for us... and now we care for them.

    My prayers are with you.

PS You yard and shed and doll house are great!

  11. I will be keeping your mothers in my prayer. Change always makes me uneasy but I have learned not to be fearful of it because most of the time good things come from it! I look forward to what you do with the doll house. :) I love Hosta's. Before my move to Secret Haven I had a hosta garden.

  12. Yes, it is so comforting knowing that even though so much changes on a minute by minute intervals...HE is still the same yesterday, before the change. HE is still the same today, while we live in the midst of the change. HE will be the same tomorrow when it is all over!

Our Lord is keeping you and your lovely family close,

    Maria
