Harvesting Quotes

This morning, I "harvested" quotes that I'd hastily copied in my datebook over the past couple of months while reading at Borders (usually).  I find it interesting what subjects capture my interest...Some are not direct quotes but notes to myself adapted from something I read.
  • Negativity is like rocks in a backpack
  • Look at all the beauty that surrounds you and be content that it's enough.
  • "Crossing too many t's and dotting too many i's make a room look overdone and tiresome.  One should create something that fires the imagination without overemphasis."  (Nancy Lancaster)
  • Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.  (Mother Teresa)
  • It doesn't matter what you wear; rather how you wear it.
  • Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from my life...
  • Like all good art, blogging connects your head, your heart, and your hands.  So don't hold back.  You never know what may await you.
  • You throw your heart into finding your voice, your audience, and declaring your dreams to the world.
  • Rule of Two:  Eat twice as often, eat half as much, and chew twice as long.
  • (re. joy) Worry less about big, big sources of joy and find a steady stream of small sources.
  • ...a couple with a passion for simple design and natural materials to create a home of pared-down perfection.
Do YOU write down this kind of stuff?  Where do you record it?  How do you store it? Why do we DO this???

  1. Yes, I write down quotes. It usually lands in my journal amongst all my other jots and tiddles! I am not sure why I am not better organized, but it is what it is....

  3. I have some sources I use for quotes but I don't write them in my journal. I'm going to feel free to use some of yours when I need them for my Sunday School class prayer and praise notes.

  4. Yes, I have kept journals of quotes for
years. I just find them comforting as
most are about the Lord. Many are also
about family, friendship, etc., but all
have touched me in some way as I read
them so I want to keep a book of
remembrance. When I return to them I
    can recapture those feelings.Love the
one about being content with the beauty
    around us.
    God's best for you,
    Sandy

  6. I do write quotes down. Unfortunately I have them written everywhere! I have several journals so I never know which one has what in it. The reason I do it is because my memory is horrible!
I really liked yours Rebecca, Here's the one I wrote down this week.

  7. Great idea to write down quotes. Thank you for visiting Seeking Grace. I am from NC. I travel to the mountains and beaches at least twice a year with my family. One of my favorite places is Charleston. I am so glad you were able to visit this beautiful place. May the Lord continue to bless you with safe travel and blessings that are uncontainable.
    In His Hands,

  8. Oh my goodness! Just tonight a friend and I shared how much we enjoy reading quotes. I have some that sit in different arrangements around the home, in random places. Sometimes my eyes will rest upon one at the perfect moment I need to find and savor it.

Rebecca, I like the quotes you've collected. A few of them in particular echo my sentiments.
