Brava, Valentine...

I stumbled on this (newest?) book by one of my favorite fiction authors, Adriana Trigliani, when I checked out some videos as backup activity for our grandchildren.  It was an "Express Book" meaning it had to be completed and returned to the library in 7 days. For some reason, I'm not reading as many books as I used to... (could it be blogging takes up too much time?).

At any rate, this was such a wonderful read that I committed to finishing it in time to return early tomorrow morning. I'm SO glad I did!  I started out this morning reading at the table on our back patio. I'd hoped for a little sun to accompany my reading, but it never shone seriously, and the breeze made for a little chill--so I moved inside. Some of my favorite quotes/thoughts include:
  • Time stands still when people are happy.
  • Tradition isn't something we do, it's the way we are.
  • I have big, big plans for my enormous life.
  • Some people appreciate what they have; others expect it.
  • My mother never had a career, but she always had an agenda.  And my father dutifully went along with it.  So my mother got her dream life, and my father, a purpose.
  • There is something to be treasured about people who know instinctively when enough is enough.
Have YOU read any good books lately?  Who are your favorite authors?

    1. The book I just finished reading is a children's book called "Thunder Cake" by Patricia Polacco. It is about a grandma who can drive out the fear of thunderstorms with her grandchildren by baking a cake she calls a thunder cake. It has great illustrations and even has the cake receipt. I am now hoping when the Grands come for their summer visit we get a thunderstorm so we can bake the cake. I am not sure I have a favorite author.

    3. I knew you'd be reading! I haven't read anything in a long while. I just haven't been in the mood. But I'll get back into it eventually! I don't have a favorite author, I just read the jackets and if it sounds interesting I read it! I'm just a simple gal! Love Di ♥

    5. I have several favorite authors; not sure if your taste would be the same as mine. I like Karen Kinsgbury for fiction; also Francine Rivers--my favorite of hers was "Redeeming Love--a novel based on the book of Hosea.

      Have a great vacation!
