I ordered
Traveling with Pomegranates (Sue Monk Kidd & Ann Kidd Taylor) and Julia Child's
My Life in France via our interlibrary loan system. Then I waited until they became available. Of course, they
both arrived yesterday. When I went in to pick them up, I saw the Kingsolver book on the 7-Day-Express Shelf. I couldn't resist! I don't know when it will become available again. That means I need to read
The Lacuna in the next seven days (and it is not a short book)! The others are checked out for three weeks, so I have some time. Can you guess what I'm going to be doing the next few days?
The challenge for me is not to neglect the important for the urgent. And what is more important than to nourish my spiritual life - "feeding" on the Word of God!
"I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will NOT neglect your word." Psalm 119:15-16
Barbara Kingsolver's book...Prodigal Summer is a most favorite of mine! My daughter works at our library...she keeps me supplied with a variety of books. I love to read too!
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder to me "to place more importance on nourishing my spiritual life"!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
And 'Happy Reading'!
Love to you,
Eileen
It's interesting to me how, after many years of reading voraciously, that I select very few books outside the scriptures. I love a good bio, or a whoddunit ... but I find my greatest joy in His presence, His word as you so sweetly point out.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kathleen
Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI love to read also, but have found that since I started blogging my reading has been neglected.
Thank you for reminding me of the importance of not neglecting my spirit man. I love to read books by Christian authors, but the One Author is my best read.
Hope your weekend is filled with many blessings,
Sue
Well we all know what Rebecca is going to be doing for awhile now don't we! I hope that Gary is still doing well.
ReplyDeleteLove Di
Funny we are on the same page (pun intended). I just finished the Kidd book and am about two chapters into My Life in France. I'm on the library waiting list for Lacuna but since I'm about #150 it may take awhile for me to catch up on that one.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think about the Kidd book.

Oh what a fun time you have ahead of you, may you enjoy all your books while tending to all other important/need to be dones.....if anyone can do it I'm sure you can Rebecca, many blessings my friend.......:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI have not heard about the book Lacuna. It must be a good one. This is the perfect weather to snuggle up and read. I am still needle punching.
ReplyDeleteReading is awesome.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, you sweet, sweet, dear one! I just read your comment on my blog. Do not apologize for living your life. I felt no slight at all, and there is no need for you to apologize. I don't even know when anybody's birthday is except for Marcy and Diana! I remember reading yours was near Christmas (or maybe even ON Christmas!) but I don't think I thought to wish you well because I was taken up with my own life.
ReplyDeleteYou are there for me when it counts, you have nourished my soul, and to tell you the truth, I think all of us in Blogland have a relationship that goes way beyond the norm. I think we are so much more than birthday wishes and simple greetings, it goes much, much deeper than that. And whether these relationships last a lifetime, years, months, whatever, that are something extra special that my heart and soul will carry always.
I treasure your friendship, and your wisdom and the Faith you share are good wishes enough for me.
Thank you.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
Okay, here we go ~ I just saw on your sidebar that you do share your special day with the Lord! And I've probably seen that time and time again and it still didn't register!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I may have wished you Happy Birthday and forgot that I did it! That's how bad my memory is!
And I think we gift each other every day! And how good of God to Gift us with each other!
Love to you,
Eileen
