Let There Be Light!

On the mantle, the lighted Christmas tree I created at ceramic shop this year and a child's cupboard with a small collection of sheep...

We also hung a garland and lights on the staircase...Eight stockings remain to be hung here (they don't fit on the mantle).
In addition to the Christmas story found in Matthew 1& 2 and Luke 2, the first chapter of John has its own angle--beginning "in the beginning"!
"...In him was life, and that life was the LIGHT of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it...The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world...to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God..." (John 1:4-5,12)

Darkness still doesn't understand light!  Oh that men and women, boys and girls may believe and receive Jesus today.  May every beautiful light of the season point to the True Light;  every carol sing of His coming;  every gift exchanged point to His salvation!

By the way, are you a strictly white light person or do you like multiple colorsLarge bulbs or small?

  1. I memorized most of the book of John many years ago in Bible Quizzing, and I can still quote the passage above from memory. It is sad that so many are still in darkness, and don't even desire the Light.

    I am a multi-colored light person--small bulbs. Blessings and Peace . Donna

  4. Rebecca your home looks very beatiful, warm and inviting. The verse from John was very fitting,
I love the light! I enjoy all of the christmas light colors. I use them all. But I do have two favorites. Blue and green. One year we did the whole tree in green lights and it was beautiful.
I do prefer the small ones to the big ones however. Lovely post Rebecca and lovely home.

  5. Well I did leave a comment early this morning, but don't see it...just mentioned how beautiful your staircase was and the ceramic tree you made. I guess I lean toward small white lights, but I do have items with colored lights. Enjoy the weekend Rebecca!

  6. Amen!! What a beautiful reflection of the season your blog is!!! You shine His light so beautifully!!! Your home looks absolutely lovely as well!!! The ceramic tree looks so beautiful!!! I enjoy both white and colored lights...depends on the tree...we have one old fashioned tree with wooden ornaments and decorated in reds and golds...I like the colored lights with that one...and whites with the more thematic tree in the jewel toned ornaments...And I like the small lights as they don't get hot like the old fashioned ones...Fun question, Rebecca!!! Love you, Janine XO

  8. While I appreciate the care & craft of the decorations (my own home is now officially blinged-out for the holidays too), I love the message. It's ageless & timeless, powerful & precious.

I remember seeing this statement on a Christmas card years ago, and it has stuck with me since: "Wise men still seek Him."

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  9. Rebecca,

It is fun to do a little catch up reading on your blogs. Your home looks beautiful. I guess that I prefer the little white lights at our home but I am so glad to see a variety as I drive through our town at night. It is great that we don't all decorate in the same way.
