My Prayer Today

God make my life a little light,
   within the world to glow;
A little flame that burneth bright
   where ever I may go.
God make my life a little flower
   that giveth joy to all;
Content to bloom in native bower
   although its place be small
God make my life a little song
   that comforteth the sad;
That helpeth others to be strong,
   and makes the singer glad.
~ M.Betham Edward

Along the lines of this prayer,  you've got to see some of the concrete ways to let our lights shine that Denise posted today! I was particularly encouraged by:

#2 - Develop Strong Personal Relationships:
The Bible knows nothing of solitary saints or spiritual hermits who isolate themselves from other believers. Instead, it says we are put together, joined together, built together, members together, heirs together, fitted together, and held together, and will be caught up together.

In addition to my real life friends, the fellowship and encouragement I've received from my blogging friends has introduced a whole new level of "togetherness" into my life. I am determined to maintain these special relationships until we WILL be caught up together one day - MAYBE SOON!

  2. I love this "Instead, it says we are put together, joined together, built together, members together, heirs together, fitted together, and held together, and will be caught up together." I think I will do a search on all of those little phrases. Thanks to you for sharing and for Denise for her original post. Friends are family by choice. Love your photo--in the last post-- even blurry--it is special. I smile just thinking about special friends. You are one . . . Smiles to you.

  5. I, too, am so very grateful for my real-life friends as well as my blogger friends. They are a constant source of encouragement. I hope someday to meet some of them in person.

    Thanks for the link to Denise's blog. (I couldn't figure out how to leave her a comment.)

    Thanks for your friendship, both real and in blogland.

  6. I'm greatful for our new found friendship and I treasure your blog.
    My prayer is to be a Light in the Darkness and a Voice in the Wilderness, espically at work.
    I work in a alteration shop with women from 5 different nationalities! Which incompasses 3 different religions. I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart and the work of my hand will be pleasing to God.
    Work has been interesting as I have confessed my belief in God. I try to answer their questions honestly and when I don't have the answers, I let them know I look it up.
    It's also been a testing of what I do believe and how to express it (Which sometimes isn't always easy).
    Once again, thanks for your blog and your encouragement!!!!!

  7. Wonderful post Rebecca...eveything is better together! Gathering with friends here at your place in the village is especially nice.

    You asked about a pumpkin soup recipe: I make it a very simple way.

    I mix:
    *a small can of Libby's pumpkin with

    *Pacific Natural Foods brand roasted red pepper and tomato soup(1qt. size)

    *a small can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and water

    *the grains on top were a few spoonfulls from a pouch of Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Medley (veg. harvest flavor).

    Maybe I should have emailed this. Hope it's ok for here!
