We discovered a path that followed the river. We were pleasantly surprised to find signs identiifying the trees along the path. These were a few that caught my eye.
The tree above is a sassafras tree! The sign noted its beautiful autumn coloring as well as the fact that root beer is made from the roots of this tree.
This was the largest of the trees - a red oak.
I felt like Wanda when I discovered this hole on the other side of the tree!
We had an enjoyable and educational experience. It's always good to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Well it looks like you had a beautiful Sunday Rebecca! It was nice to see the photo of you! You looked very nice!
ReplyDeleteI liked your idea of where to go for a walk, something I would not have thought of. We have a beautiful outdoor sculpture museum here that is very beautiful to walk around!
Love Di
P.S. I love the smell of sassafras!
Wonderful photographs, Rebecca...I loved the trees.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I do love that pink sweater you are wearing, too!! :))
I'm glad that you got to spend some quiet and quality time outside in the sunshine. God is so good!!!
Love and smiles from Jackie
You're right Rebecca...I really would like the tree with the hole...we have sassafras trees on the property and if we need to cut one, the scent lingers in the air for hours. Years ago my g/mother used the roots to make sassafras tea!
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned Fort Wayne...We use to have a second home in Marion, Indiana in Grant County.
Rebecca, are you really doing your 30 min. walks in sandals and not tennis shoes??
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to start walking (again) this week. Really not sure how to squeeze it in.
I love days like that! Beautiful weather to enjoy, nature to discover, leisure time spent together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this with us!
We had a very rainy day here today. After church we came home, there was a football game on, and the kids came over along with a few other relatives, and I enjoyed a nice afternoon visiting with them and the grandkids. I love days like that too!
All the best,
Eileen
That sounds like a very interesting walk sweetie.
ReplyDeleteYes, I DO walk in those sandals - almost every day. And I DO look a little overdressed for a walk, don't I? Oh, well...I was comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check this out. Looks like a really nice walk. Someday, your feet are going to hurt from walking in sandals--when you get as old as I am! Lol! Donna
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in your sweater, skirt and sandals....and if you were comfortable that is all that matters. Walk sounded lovely and I am sure Wanda would love that tree as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo's and a beautiful Sunday Rebecca, happy for you my friend.....:-) Hugs
Lovely photos! I am glad to be back and catching up on your posts! Oh my goodness, Rebecca, do you really have eight blogs? You are looking so great! I lost 18 pounds earlier and now have gained back 7 and am discouraged but I will try again. I read "How I Did It." in your post. I am walking but that is about it for now. Hopefully, since vacation is done, I can concentrate on this better. Love to you, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to walk, and that bridge is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI would walk barefoot if I could...I hate wearing structured shoes! Ah, but winter is around the corner, soon it will be time to pull out those boots as well as "real" shoes!
You look lovely!
:) I wasn't being critical of your sandals...just amazed that you can do your walking in them. I started out the other day with my sandals on, and pushing a double stroller with at least 40# of kids in it, and had to come back and change shoes. I'm with Pat, I'd go barefoot if I could! I only lasted 20 minutes...groan...
