Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottentail and Peter

We watched a good movie last night! The scenery was breath-taking, the Victorian dress and settings accurate, the acting winsome, and the story inspiring. Renee Zellweger was perfect in her role as Beatrix Potter, the illustrator and storyteller of the most popular children's books ever. We also watched the special feature included in the video -- "The Making of a Real-Life Fairy Tale" after the movie itself. It is worth the time to watch that feature.

This line about Beatrix Potter will occupy my thoughts throughout today: "You see what she valued by the choices that she made."

I believe this is true of all of us! My prayer is that my values will be more and more conformed to those of Jesus Christ Himself, and that my choices will reflect that--and Him!

  3. Hi Rebecca!
That movie sounds right up my alley. I will wait until hubby goes back to work as I don't think it is cup of tea! I watched a good one before he came home. " Mrs. Palfrey" I may have the spelling wrong, They way this woman talked she reminded me of Bernie! Anyway it too was an excellent movie. See you soon!

  4. I'd like very much to see this movie.

And how true that quote is!

But to tell you the truth, that quote while it's very relevant in my making a decision I have to make right now, and it's making that decision easier, it's not making me very happy. I'm realizing that I probably have to sacrifice something I enjoy very much.

    All the best,
    Eileen

  5. Wanda, I wondered if you might not have seen it!" It's so "you".

Eileen, I had to look at a few of my choices lately and realize that they DO reflect what I value....so I'd better readjust my VALUES and ask God to change them!

Diana, Yeah, it's probably not so much a macho movie - although my husband watched it with me and said he liked it.

  12. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would like to see it again...it was so nice how they combined fantasy (her drawings coming to life)and reality in it.

So refreshing and so rare to see a movie where the characters actually have some morals!

    blessings and hugs,

  14. I've seen the movie also...it is great. Think it's time to see it again! Thanks for the reminder. Gosh I wish someone would cross stitch that quote about Beatrix Potter. I've got to put that up somewhere that I can see it frequently!

  15. Dee, "Julia" is on our list. Hopefully yet this week sometime!

Jacquelyn - a cross stitch quote WOULD be great! For now, I just wrote it at the top of my monthly calendar (August), so anytime I go to that page, I see it!

  16. I happen to own this movie and love it. I have a collection of movies for costume references. I purchased it after see a tour of costumes from Hollywood. I'll send you some photos of costumes that I've made. We have an Antique Car Festival at The Henry Fors/Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan in September.A group of us go in costume and enjoy the day. We have open air choir practics and sing hymns from the early 1900's..Just as I Am, How Great Thou Art, Blessed Assurance & Amazing Grace. It's our way of being a witness. You'd be suprized how many people stop to listen!

Have you seen any of the Ann of Green Gable series or the TV series "Road to Avonlea? It's all on Prince Edward Island from 1898 to 1912. Good wholesome values and stories. Also the Christy tv series (no longer on but avaible on DVD. It also comes with a Bible study!
