1/2 c. all-purpose flour, unsifted
1/2 pint (1 cup) whipping cream
3/4 c. milk (I used 1%)
2 Tbs. butter, cut into small pieces
Pinch nutmeg.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Combine sugar, flour, cream, and milk in a mixing bowl. Pour into pie shell (I used a store-bought crust-the kind that is rolled up in refrigerated section). Dot butter bits all around top of pie. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for approximately 35 more minutes. Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until chilled. Serve chilled. The pies will be just a bit runny. Don't worry. If using glass baking dish, lower oven temp. by 25 degrees.

Thank you much for the receipe Rebecca. I think in spite of the fact that I hate cooking and baking, I will make this when my husband gets home next weekend. It will be a nice surprise for him!
ReplyDeleteYes, Marcy, as you can see, the calories have been carefully disguised as sugar, whipping cream, and butter. Diana, if your husband likes sweets, this should be a winner. (And it's good to know there is someone else who is not so enthusiastic about cooking and baking out there!) This IS a very simple recipe - and it got rave reviews with my friends.

ReplyDeleteSugar and cream plus flour equals pie...not even vanilla, just a pinch of nutmeg...does it taste a little like a Buttermilk Pie or a Custard Pie?
